At first I was excited to see a smaller 7-inch competitor to the Pocket 3. But when you lined them up together I realized that the only dimension where it's smaller is the width. It appears to have an identical depth and may even be marginally thicker. What made the Pocket 2 actually a "pocket" computer was its wide format display and its tapered chassis design. Sadly I don't think we'll see a true successor for another generation if ever.

I feel your pain so much. While I never has a GPD Pocket, I had the MicroPC and like you I don't think I'll see a true successor to it either.

I'm a backer of the pocket 3 and I'm hoping that the extra inch and extra power can make it my main laptop. Might be an awful decision on my part but the specs and price are right. I'm glad there's competition in the market the upgrades from the previous versions alone are very impressive

I would love for it to be a daily driver for lots of stuff. Especially in tablet mode. Don't see many videos of that unfortunately, and no autoroty. Still looks amazing. I'm considering a Mico laptop like the Pocket 3. They just seem extremely expensive, similar prices to surface pro's. I love the I/o though. Would make manage different internet devices easy. What edition did you order? I was considering the $670 version, I don't know if it will serve strong enough longevity wise to warremt the money for the top end version.

@@TheTyphoon365 I got the i7 version for $1076, since I hope to do 1080p video editing as well. I would never pay 1500 for it though, which is the MSRP after the Indiegogo campaign ends. It seems like these smaller devices will always be a step or two behind larger laptops, and I'm okay with that. Also GPD put an update out about the auto-rotation, it seems like it's a built-in feature now

Wow, the One Netbook A1 Pro sounds like a really neat little computer! So does the GPD Pocket 3. Man, I thought my Surface Go 3 was small and portable! LOL! Perhaps once my budget will allow me to, I may invest in one of these. As I am totally blind, I don't need such a big screen, and I'm quite used to typing on crammed keyboards, as I've typed on keyboards as small as RII Mini keyboards before, so that wouldn't be an issue for me. Portability and performance for the win! Please keep the videos coming!

How does that modular port on the Pocket 3 work? I mean, if you make it a COM/RS232 port, that surely won't make it a native COM port. but more like a USB-COM port, of which it is known doesn't wotrk with all legacy devices.

You sure you haven't got a British version of the keyboard because the version on their website has a shift button there and the Japan version is the same as this version

I picked up the Pro version, i7-1160G7, 16GB, 512GB for only $700. It was supposed to be a used item according to it’s description, however, when I received it, none of the packaging had been disturbed. Anyway, I love this thing, it’s been my go to travel laptop, in which I do a lot of and the RS-232 port has been invaluable as many can contest, the dongle versions I don’t work on a lot of equipment. Forcing us to use an older laptop in the process. Now however, I look like a super geek when visiting sites that require me to use an RS-232 COMM port to access routers, switches, firewall, etc. This is worthy purchase for anyone who works in the field and just wants something small to carry aeku

This has been a little God send for me. As a person who spends a large portion of his life in server rooms around Europe, having a small, easy to pack, laptop with a RS-232 COMM port. Normally I have to use a USB C to RS-232 dongle from. DeLock

I just bought it from Geekbuying, but it came with the old keyboard and I really wanted the keyboard pictured in your video. Geek is putting me off saying a1 and pro have the same keyboard which they obviously don’t. I want to return my unit to Geek. Know where I could get the pro with the new keyboard?

thanks for bringing up the bios at the end of the video. i lost interest in gpd wins because of their sideways bios. i multiboot devices but it got to a point where constantly having to look sideways in the boot menu got very, very annoying. it’s almost 2022 and disappointed that umpcs like these still think it’s fine to deal with bizarre orientations like these. sometimes linux installs sideways and you have to waste time with screen rotation commands in a startup script or other hack, but the boot menu is always sideways. it’s a dealbreaker & pet peeve but still love the tech. the red backlight is also a dealbreaker. long irrelevant story but i dislike red with black color combination. they should have at least stuck with white as a backlight option.

I have barely any insight into this so I can't really say much but I wonder if the display rotation quirk may be because that's how the display controller works. Would very much not be surprised and that would mean that it would be difficult for gpd and one netbook to have it work flawlessly

One-netbook A1 Pro just lost to GPD Pocket 3. It's less versatile, bad keyboard i5 only, 8GB only, half the storage but more pricey.
