RAB Ridge Raider Bivi | Updated Model Pertex Shield Air
Join me on my first look and setup on the new and updated bivi from Rab.
I had the original version back in 2010 and I've been wanting to get my hands on this new version for my lightweight hiking trips in 2023.

Cheers Mate from across the pond. I think you sold me on this. Does it compress more when packed away? Will be using it for bikepacking and still need to get my sack in there. Thanks for the video.

Got one of these at Christmas but broke my heel so not managed to get out in it. Hopefully get out at easter if the heel heals up well. How do you find getting the pole in and out? I did it just to test it out and it's so tough to get in and out I worry about the pole snapping. Might try stretching the eyelet material see if it loosens it a couple of mm. Great Bivi though excited to get out in it.

I’ve not had any problems with the pole. I did read the someone else found it tough though. Hopefully you get better soon to test it out.

Hi was hoping you could answer a question for me please. How is the Ridge Raider with air mats inside? I've asked Rab and they said it will fit all of their sleeping mats but I'm dubious and unsure. I've got a long and wide air mat that's 197cm long and 64cm wide (not a mummy shape). Going by Rabs response my mat should fit but I'm not so sure with the way the Ridge Raider narrows towards the mid and end. Is this something you could answer by any chance? I was hoping to get a Ridge Raider soon but it all depends on a larger air mat fitting. Like you I'm 6'2 so can't really use a regular mat. Thanks for any help you can offer here 👍

I used a Thermarest x therm size large and it has plenty of room. It’s a super bivi system

Excellent thanks for the fast response mate. I'll order one as soon as I get paid. Had my eye on the Ridge Raider a long time, need an upgrade on my Stratosphere which isn't as waterproof as the Ridge Raider

It’s definitely not cheap at £350 . I did manage to get it in the sale I’m not sure I would pay the full price I don’t think my wife would be impressed if I did 😂

Came here to say that! Looks a nice bit of kit, but you could probably snag tents around the same weight for £350 if you hunted around. I'd like to try one, but my good lady would not be impressed if I spent that much on a fabric coffin.

Stupid design...If you open it to let air in and use the mozzy net, it will let rain in because the base extens further then the top. It needs to have a canopy so you can open the zip fully.

Take a tarp. All bivvies with the head exposed need a tarp. I spent time in the British Army, Goretex bivy plus a tarp is what we used.

@@martyn_g With a British Army bivi all you need to do is turn it upside down and support the extended bit so its like a canopy. Then you have a mini tent, I have attached fixings so I can put a mozzy net on in the summer.
