Who is the person you want to meet again someday?
The second teaser trailer has been released for this story that crosses three time periods along with the hit songs of Hikaru Utada!
A new story has been crafted through inspiration from two songs by Hikaru Utada: the 1999 smash hit and musical gem "First Love," and "Hatsukoi," released 19 years later. The story follows a couple retracing their memories of their unforgettable first love over the course of more than 20 years and spanning three decades: the late '90s, the 2000s, and the present.
Co-starring Hikari Mitsushima and Takeru Satoh
The Netflix Series "First Love" starts streaming from 24 November, 2022, only on Netflix!

Young, free and madly in love. As teenagers, the world was their oyster - but as adults, their lives seem dimmer, like a very important piece is missing.

!! SPOILER FREE REVIEW !! This by far is the most beautifully written Japanese Drama I have ever seen. The cinematography and the aesthetics, the actors' acting were incredible, felt like I was the one meeting my first love after years. Even the journey of each of the characters life was touching. I know from the outside it seems like it's pure "romance" focused but trust me it's not just that. Everything felt so real that I wish I could watch it again for the first time. Please do not rethink and give it a watch!

Definetely however i think the ending was rush. I dunno iy just didnt fit me . SPOILER : I think the ending should be harmuichi getting married living happily finally getting over Yae .. yae although remembering could have accepted the fact that they cannot be together and focused on being a mom and supporting his kid with his success.. i think thats a good ending for me .. like many situations most people dont end with their first love.

There’s a good amount of dramas/movies coming out centered around slice of life, coming of age & youth! All of these are usually refreshing & set in the 90’s to early 2000’s! It seems like older millennials are taking over the writing rooms & directing 🤩 Even though I’m an older gen z, I absolutely love these themes & feel nostalgic for that time period. This looks good! The movie its not all about love. Its also about we grew up in 90s. We witness the simple joy in life, til we face adulthood with so much pressures in life. We also witness from good to worse throughout time by politics, calamities, and pandemics. Thats why at the end of the trailer we were asked if we still want to see next (years to come). I find this movie as a reminisce and a remind. Every year gets scarier.

I just finished watching it. I never regret giving it a try. I'm not the greatest fan of romance but this hits different. I've never felt so many emotions like this. It brings back so many memories I have ignored for years, memories I thought I already forgot, and memories I want to forget. The tears of sadness and joy mixed up. When I started, I wanted it to end so I can see if they actually end up together, but near the end, I suddenly don't want it to end because they deserve so much more time after all those years and I just feel attached to it, but the ending was still great. I'm so happy. To the one who thought of writing this because of the song by Hikaru Utada, you deserve nothing but praise and all the best. Probably one of the best series I've seen from Netflix so far.

I finished this drama like 3 days ago and decided to watch it again because it's so good. Especially the last 2 episodes. I've seen the trailer a long time ago but decided not to watch more of it to avoid the spoilers. And when it became available, I also tried to stay away from it and not watch it, fearing that it will be too sad or maybe it's not great at all. Well for those who are still not sure if this is a good series, do yourself a favor and just watch it. I thought it just a typical couple of being happy and breaking up, but it's more than that. I won't spoil it for you. This show has a great story, beautiful scenery, and brilliant actors. One of the best jdramas out there. It's been a while since I watched a good jdrama since I switched to kdrama, but you wont go wrong with this one. Being a guy, I cried because I felt the deep love of the lead actor towards his gf. He would do everything for her to make her happy, and they're so much in love but fate have a different plan for them. It sucks though but that's life. Also, this show hit me differently because I'm a big fan of Utada Hikaru when she released the song Automatic (1998) and First Love (1999). And because of the popularity of the song First Love that it also became the official soundtrack of the jdrama "Majo no Joken" (1999). So making this drama in this generation and the director/writer being inspired by this song gave me so much joy and nostalgia. It takes me back in time when you're still young and full of silliness. I remember downloading all her songs in torrent since there is no youtube yet back then and copying it on a CD so I can play it in my car all the time. Lol! Sorry for the long comment.. but what are you waiting for? Go watch it! 😊

I am really surprised that people all over the world know about Japanese culture. As a Japanese, I appreciate it. I'm 45 and this is without a doubt the best Japanese drama of all time. It is a masterpiece that expresses all of the Japanese values, worldview, and ethics. I thought that only Japanese would be able to express that, and that they wouldn't be understood, so I'm really happy that people all over the world are happy. To connect with the world of First Love, we recommend watching Japanese dramas and movies from the late 80's, 90's and 00's. This trailer led me to watch it with the impression of a tragic and/or sad love story. I was wrong. I just finished watching the series and I had a lot of questions about other people's POV, but I gave it some thought. I realized that it was actually beautiful how she never focused on trying to go back on what could've had happened in the past. She never got mad, and instead she move forward and did her best to wait to either finish or continue what it could've been 21 years ago. Their love for each other is patient. It was actually nice how all of the characters were matured enough, they're not messy. I just love this series and the song is just *chef's kiss*. Watching this made me realize how beautiful it is to experience our first love or to even love someone patiently.

Just binge watched all nine episodes yesterday and this might be one of my favorite shows for this year (the other is pachinko). Despite the first eight episodes showing heartbreak, regret, loss and missed opportunities, the last episode will surely satisfy your hearts. Topnotch cinematography. Thank you for creating a beautiful love story and showing how beautiful Hokkaido prefecture and Iceland is.

After watching this in 24 hours and emptying a box of tissues, I want to say this was the best series and romance I've watched in months. Each episode made me cry, smile and laugh. And the music at the end finished me. It's slow paced and that's why it's even more powerful. Go watch it (in Japanese please) you won't regret it!

I cried many times to this series! Fantastic ending! I watched it 3x already! This J-Drama destroys all K-Drama i know! The issues are real.. divorce, pain, hardships, career choice, empathy with persons with disability/ sign language, child custody issues, mother & son relationship, talk about porn materials, little nudity, sacrifice, letting go & most especially the drama is on point.

ah my eyes teary...🥹 not by the story that i even don't know yet... but just by seeing the vibes of 90's-00's era like a playback of my very own life as 90's gen (n when started liking J-cultures stuff)... the songs, the footage, n all the nuances... very personally relate n so damn nostalgic that impact my heart deep...🥲

Slow but beautiful story, it just made me cry so much. Rather confusing with the switches of years within an episode, but gosh….never wished so hard for a couple to be together after that many instances indicating they’re fated for each other! Yes, this is a happy ending one & I wish the director could make the drama longer to show their sweet reconciliation ❤

It's magically beautiful. The actors who played young character were amazing. Although I am a big fan of Takeru satoh but this drama definitely made me fall for Taisei kido and Rikako yagi. They were wonderful. The acting the cinematography and how beautifully it is presented. After a very long time some drama made me feel all emotions. The chemistry was sizzling which is rather missing in today's dramas but this hooked me up. Ahh I loved it. It's in the list of my favorites now. Hope to see more magnificent stories like this. Like slow burning chemistry❤❤❤❤
