Govanhill's problems started years ago. There were problem families being kicked out of the schemes in the 1990s by the council, so the DSS got them private lets in Govanhill. Did anyone think they were changing their lives by moving a few miles? There was also a family of heroin dealers based in Alison Street. Cue a Smack epidemic in the 1990s with scores of kids dying. Houses being burgled, old people being robbed. Also two hotels in the area were converted into homeless hostels; the Queens Park Hotel and the one on the corner of Langside Rd/Queens Drive. Again, there was an increase in crime in the area. The regeneration of the Gorbals and the Demolition of Prospecthill Circus took place at the expense of Govanhill. By the late 1990s it was rapidly turning into a shithole. The SNP and Nicola Sturgeon had no role in all of this. They do however need to sort it out.

This is not about who the politician is at the time that is irrelevant it is however a about people in power ignoring what is going on right in front of their eyes. Kids are being prostituted, in some cases by their parents and this is ignored because it doesn't suit the multicultural narrative pushed by our self serving polititions. Also I have been around Glasgow for thirty years as my wife comes from the ruchill/possil area which doesn't have a great name either but I can assure you it ain't in the same league as govanhill. Yes, it is the councilors responsibility. Yes she is the first minister, hence responsible for the "bigger picture". However she is also Govanhills locally elected MP, so she had the additional responsibility to represent her constituents - she could start by challenging the Labour councilors publicly and demanding answers. She might not have the power to overrule them, but she had the power to put pressure on them. If she did that, I think most people would be on her side. Instead when confronted, she comes across as arrogant, confrontational and dismissive. Of course happy to be proved wrong If she has indeed done these things. In any case , she still maybe needs to learn how to not treat her own constituents with contempt. The man in the video was respectful and she should have returned that respect.
