First Mod Failure on my Tacoma

In this video, I'll give an update on my Raptor lights installed a few months ago.
Also, I've got an LED lighting MOD that well, was an absolute failure. Was it me, with it the product, was it my process? You decide.

I've had a couple mod failures, it always sucks! But it always works itself out in the end! Worse one was when I was changing out my OEM TRD headlights and I was throwing in alpharex leds and I literally was almost all the way done and realized I didn't have the adaptor harness and they didn't send it as they should've. Always double check no matter how excited you are lol.

Don't install LED bulbs in a Halogen housing. You won't get proper reflection or concentration of the light beam. LED may match color but more than likely cause glare and reduce visability compared to OEM bulb. Recommend a Tungsram Megalight Ultra (formerly GE) H11 +130% halogen bulb.

I installed the hood struts on my taco.I wonder why they are not oem.

Should be standard. This is something I've yet to do.

I'm late to the comments but, these bulbs, I believe, from the instructions, if understood correctly, have a polarity difference. If you had reversed the none working bulb in the holder, I believe it will work. I have fitted 4 sets of headlight bulbs to different vehicles and I had to reverse three bulbs for them to work. If, after reading the instructions, it states, turn on before fitting, this is the reason, if the bulb doesnt work, reverse it in the holder and it will work.

You are correct, they have a polarity difference. I tried that and it didn't work. But they sent me a new set and it worked great. I've been using them ever since

I will add, I always used Lasfit bulbs and have found their performance excellent. I have no affiliation with Lasfit, just, I think, they are one of the best bulbs out there.

@@DJXPLRS So glad to hear that, I always try to help people even with my limited knowledge of how vehicles work. I just purchased my second, new, tacoma off road. I had planned on putting the Lasfit LED bulbs in that too. However, my new tacoma has LED bulbs, from the factory. So glad your issue was resolved. 😁

I've heard they don't have a positive negative sign. I've seen videos were they unplug the light and flip it around and plug it back in. Maybe try that .🤔

I had the halogen head lights too and replaced mine with LeD also. I used a different brand from Amazon that was well rated on tacoma world. I don't have raptor lights. I'd have to change my sr5 grill to the pro grill as nothing is made for it. Hood struts I had a set of Solkie tech struts since my truck was new. no drill install was really the selling point I didn't want to drill the hood of my truck to install rivets like you do with the redline and spiker brands. And yes I've had a mod fail. The anytime front and rear back up camera mod was a total fail the first install. I had it all tested and somehow when I went to put all the wires in behind the radio I tore up one of the harness adapters. But I got a new part to replace it and a few months later succeeded in getting it working along with a mini amplifier install

It is frustrating when something that should be straightforward is not. Glad my 2023 TRD Sport, which I’m still waiting for, is coming with LED headlights and fog lights.

I ran similar LEDs from one of the Tacoma sites as low beams for over a year. They appeared brighter than the halogens when standing in front of the truck, but were pretty dim when driving at night. Thankfully, I have the Baja Designs fog lights which compensated. Had a crazy rainstorm back in April which knocked one of the LED lights out, so I swapped the stock halogen bulbs back in and threw them away. I think the downfall of these is that the heat sink and cooling fan are exposed to the elements at the back of the headlight housing, so any water splashing up from the road will likely cause them to fail.

LED headlight bulbs are always a hit or miss; they either are not bright enough or the burn out prematurely. I use HIDs in my taco low beams. tried and true design. I just threw the LEDs in the high beams that really ever get used. junk no I'm not spending $250 for some fancy claim LED blah blah.

why just change the low beams? I changed high, low and fog so that they were all the same color. All 3 are the same bulb H11. Hood struts are the ticket, I used the redline brand, at about 6" the hood goes up on its own.

Probably one of the best mods I've done I can't believe toyota for the money they want for there trucks don't give you hood struts but I wasn't going to rely on that God damn stick they give you to hold the hood up while you're working under there I got red line struts they had two types reg and the ones I got for about 30 dollars more these ones make it easy to lift after you undo the catch slight pressure up and it continues on its own they install in about 45 minutes but it comes with rivits to install it so if you don't have a rivit gun and don't know anyone who has one you will have to by one I got mine at home depot for 30 bucks and you have to be real careful when drilling the hood to much pressure you'll go right thrue the hood I took some electrical tape and wrapped it around the drill bit about 3/16 from the top so just the tip went through if you don't feel comfortable doing that there was a company on u tube that no drilling was required the ends go into factory holes and they seemed pretty nice but the hoods angle wasn't quite a wide as the rivit on ones if you go with drilling just put a touch of paint in takehr drill holes keep rust away good luck either way but I think if you take your time you'll get good results good luck.
