First Nations Coaching Workshop - Fiji | Netball Australia

Three-day workshop with Netball Fiji’s top coaches and high-performance training staff from Netball Australia to identify how cultural identity informs self and coaching practices to drive athlete and high-performance behaviours.
Designed by Netball Australia’s First Nations Engagement Lead, Kamilaroi woman Ali Tucker-Munro, the Our Way - Our Style workshop was specifically focused on how coaching practices and playing styles are shaped by local contexts, and how coaches can use the unique strengths of their players’ community and culture to strengthen their coaching strategies.
The local coaches attending the workshop came from cities and villages across the Fijian islands, and represented junior, senior, women’s and men’s teams.
Each coaching cohort had the opportunity to have integrated, peer-to-peer sessions about coaching practices and discuss high performance coach and team planning standards.
The First Nations Coaching workshop is proudly supported by the Australian Government through PacificAus Sports in partnership with Netball Australia.
PacificAus Sports is a sports diplomacy initiative developing pathways for Pacific teams and athletes to compete in elite competitions and access high performance coaching in Australia and internationally.
