As much as I agree with everyone else on the olive thing, I'm interested to see how it all plays out since it'll be an uphill battle now. Will they abandon the olive dream? In that case you think that no one should give any negative feedback when asked and only say completely positive things? "Yes olives are an amazing idea and spending £400k on planting them and buy the harvester is the best thing to do!" - something like that is what you want? PS olives are an objectively bad idea and will not be profitable for a very long time if ever, certainly not before they end the series.

Daggerwin has wasted probably 90k in this series. We had the mulcher that got used once, the second set of seeders that were used once and now the olives. Yay. Lol

@@stephengarvin3308 Oh I totally agree it costs a fortune but it makes things much easier. I made it free on my game on the map. But the £10k he spent this episode was on repainting the forest colour he put down previously in another episode to green. Not sure if that would count as being one that should be free as it wasn't needed to make things easier it was purely cosmetic. So painting that area really cost £20k and it is going to be made in to a field anyway.

We are seeing why Daggerwin gets trounced time and time again in competitive multiplayer! He’s a good guy and narrates his videos well but when it comes to logical thought in this game he is sadly lacking.

New baler/wrapper combo just needs to be bought. Speed through them grass fields. The olive groves and equipment just needs to go. Cut your losses before throwing more good money after bad.

I really don't care about the olives. I just think other things should have come before them. New baler wrapper setup and more land first. Maybe get a textile mill of some sort for the cotton. a new shed built to store equipment. Behind the existing one or next to it. A new planter or seeder. I do think the olives should have been put in 90 degrees from how they were planted. up and down the hill not across it. You do have furniture coming soon to sale so that should give a nice boost in money. I not sure how much raw material you have left in the production might need to put a few more trees into it. As always, enjoyed the video keep up the good work.

The sooner you get the mayonnaise production up and running the better. It will help mitigate Daggerwins questionable decision making. I'm not opposed to the olives but it seems way to early to start buying them now. Bigger chicken coop would be great. Dag bought way to small of one.

Hey #Chainsaw100 i noticed there is a mod you could have gotten and cheaper for makeing Olives about 12k for the building and its a greenhause which you could really have it tipped into a trailer and made much faster olives grown here is the mod name: Fruit Greenhouse by - MTL Modding Team, also its a multi greenhause only needs about 5k each of water, seeds, fertilizer and herbicide to start it to make a bunch of olives grapes& other fruits hope you take the time too look it up because its getting sad watching dagger spend about 100k on the groves and not getting nothing back from it in the end +30k on a tractor which you could have gotten a bigger baler+wrapper by now so hope you ressolve it soon because the 300k olive harvester acompete waste of money it could finance more storage room for the equipment new land bigger tractors new productions also Great Video as always and thank you for the Good commentary hope to hear more from you ;D

Always a geat video. Tell Daggerwin to get the Large Outdoor Chicken Coop as 30 chickens won't produce enough eggs as you can get a large free range chicken coop for $12,000 and it can 700 chickens which will produce a lot of eggs for the mayonnaise.

Best way to do olives is the olive tree mod, £1000 each and you can distribute them straight to the refinery.

I realise that this is an old video, but I felt that I might share some thoughts as they are appropriate to this video. FS is a driving game. I know it says Farming in the title, but really it's a driving game where the farming gives you a purpose to your driving. Like most driving games, it's always fun to get different vehicles to drive. Myself, I agree that Olives is a bad move, but that's because I would prefer to buy bigger tractors to drive with bigger tools. It seems that Daggerwin is more interested in buying a variety of different things. I guess it comes down to playstyle somewhat, but I would argue that spending money in high investment products means less products, which is somewhat counter productive if you are going for variety. I always plan very carefully when I'm playing this game to maximise profit. Having said that, maximum profit would be silage, silage and more silage, which would make dull videos. I guess there's a balance between farming for profit and viewer numbers. I would say that the balance point falls short of spending so much on olives. I'm really enjoying your content though, and have started watching some of your other series. I did watch earlier timelapse videos that you released, but the commentary ones are much more engaging and have drawn me in. Keep up the good work, and thank you.

you should sell the smallest cultivator.. also maybe hold the piece of land available up the cliff/forest area for the olives and buy the piece of land behind the soybeans/corn/island of trees and use that area to make bigger fields...

Mr. Chainsaw, you can be my farm manager anytime, you make good sound solid decisions as i have seen in many many of your vids. Daggerwin not so much, he is like a little kid with a dollar burning a hole in his pocket and has to spend it. Why would any farmer plant any crop without having the means or equipment to harvest it, let alone know the equipment to be bought is well out of their means to acquire Keep up the great work and videos, your doing great! Have you guys considered a flour mill? Easy money and the mill I use produces pig food also. No special machines and it's less than 100k. The returns are awesome. On my map I call myself the flour King. 🤑

very nice bale flipping skills there near the end. ive been thinking about the rules (lease/loans) Americans would do something like a teaspoon of hot sauce every day that they lease something for as a penalty... not sure what could be done here in England but it might add a bit of extra excitement to the vids. probably need people to vote on if its allowed or not though

You can get the olive greenhouse mod that's single tree orchards, like apple trees. You can run it off just water or water+seed+fert or water+seed+manure. That's the only way I run olive oil production. Also, the chips (crisps in UK) mod is worth a look. Potatoes and oil, think it's an expansion mod? Not the fries mod, the potato factory for crisps.

Daggerwin is cracking good at 3 things: spending money, making messes and falling into the river. I think the olives were the worst idea, honestly. He did olives in one of his other series, so maybe he forgot how little they make? The costs take a long time to recoup and the equipment is both specialized and expensive, nevermind how much effort you end up putting in. The only way I've found to make olives pay is over the long haul. At the time, I planted them as 2-row "skirts" that traced the headland of large, arable fields. You can fit a lot of trees in that way and they can be fertilized with the same spreader you use for the field. Commit to 5 years and you'll get the money out of them. I just think it was too early for that kind of investment.

I agree it was probably too early to start the olives but at least we already have the oil mill to increase their value and should have plenty of episodes ahead of us to recoup the costs 🤞

@@Chainsaw100 Olives seem to be an end game "I want to do them for fun" crop or you use mods like greenhouses or other mods to make them viable without the need for the massive upfront investment. They aren't an early game crop at all. Spending more on a single crop harvester than you have spent on your combine seems like a bad idea.

All investments come with a profit in the end, at least in FS. Yes it may be a bit to early for the Olives but in the end why not. If you want to see always the same stuff it get boring. At honestly this trash talk about Daggerwin in the comments here should stop. @Chainsaw, as a lot of people already mentioned, get Daggerwin to talk about the series, and start adding Voice Communication. This "Multiplayer" is more a Singleplayer where each one of you is doing whatever you like or is needed. There is rearly work you are actually doing together. Start communicating better with each other, make a plan of what you want to do together and start playing together towards the Aim.

Totally agree that the series feels like two people playing single player on the same farm rather than a coop series. I do think that some or most criticism of Daggerwin is valid. That is not trash talk it is pointing out valid concerns and failings. Such as wasting £10k on painting the ground for no reason. Daggerwin does not seem to think of what is needed or is the best for the farm. He thinks of what is the next new thing he can do for variety for his video. That is how it comes across to me. What do you consider trash talk of Daggerwin?

Id buy space. 21, 12. And the space south of 24. . In terms of the olives, you need a lot more space planted to them to justify the harvester. Like the entire grass feald area. . So i just have to agree to disagree, with pushing for olives when your not up to 6 land plots yet. Would i have gotten the discount tractor yes, but i would have not planted any yet.

Please Chainsaw... would you mind spending a little bit of time between sessions planning with Daggerwin. A survival series should contain an element of optimisation to see the farm grow. The focus of this series seems to have largely been 'let's choose the non-optimal option to increase interest in what we are watching.. i.e let's choose the most random thing to do instead of doing something good'. If you two could get together through how you communicate usually and just talk out what your future productions should be.. and what the next few priorities are.. while also considering how interesting the content might be would really increase interest in the series!

I think olive is a massive expense, massive waste of money, but they are a bit interesting and nobody wants to watch a whole series if just combine crops so why not. Maybe even worth a couple.of extra greenhouses too. They are great passive income almost no effort free cash!

You know my feelings on the olives. I don't think they are a good idea especially the cost of the harvester. It would be different if you could rent then I would have a far less negative view on the olives. £300k would buy you the see and spray, the new baler that both of you say you need anytime you use the one you have, and you could use upgrades on much of your other equipment too. The olives may be an small interest and will provide a challenge to pay for but at the cost of hampering your development everywhere else on the farm. The only easy way I can think of to afford the olive harvester is to cut an massive amount of trees down. 15 to 20 trailer loads of logs. I don't think either of you will want to do that for your videos. In my own playthrough I did it to afford a proper tree felling machine which was about £440k but I am only playing for my own enjoyment and not to make fun videos and the machine has paid itself off very quickly. I've been looking for a cheaper olive harvester and cannot find one however there is the "Olives +Olive Picker" mod on modhub where you plant individual trees and use the umbrella harvester which is only £6,700. I think the trees would take up more space but it would allow you to do the olives in an affordable way. Though you would have to get rid of the grove you already have that mod would allow you to do olives affordably and also carry on with other projects without the crippling cost of the harvester. You would at least make a profit with that mod. You won't make a profit for a very long time the route Daggerwin wants to go with the olives.

While I personally would not have pursued olives, it seems that Daggerwin is dead set on a mayonnaise factory and trying to feed more goods into it with the olive oil so I think his intent comes from a good place, but I don't feel he researches before making purchases or thinks about order of operations that make most sense. Baler/wrapper is an instant "win" for efficiencies if you can produce silage quicker and more often, olives are an instant drain and long term won't really net you much, given how much oil you will already have to feed the Mayo production from sunflowers. Sunk a ton into olives for a very minor gain long term, instead of major improvements in equipment that can make your profits more consistent and timely. :(

Yeah the olive oil is not really needed for the mayo production and more oils being produced just reduces the rate each is produced at. The total production tics are fixed. Canola and sunflower oil are both far more efficient production cost wise. They have all the equipment they need for those so no added costs to make them.

@@Chainsaw100 For sure it is different, but just feels sort of rushed and like you guys are going to be forced into selling all of your upcoming crops and cutting trees to try and make enough for a harvester unless there is a super cheap mod. 😬 I'm all for experiments and variety (when I play I def try to min/max though I'm sure you can tell). Do you have woodland to cut beyond the current end of the smaller field on the other side of the bridge along the river? Perhaps clearing trees there and making that plot bigger could be good since it is flatter than that clearing above the rock?
