Honestly gifting certs to your alts would be a great addition. I only play on my NC main nowadays because my other characters are lacking in gear and I don't want to grind for it all over again. I already liked the progression in this game more than in the others because you can use one class to unlock upgrades for all the other classes and even vehicles with certs, so you're not forced to use a less efficient option just so you can upgrade it to an usable thing. Making it cross-character via cert transfer would be a step in the right direction I think

Why not creat a Camo [e.g. Cert pattern ] that cost 50.000 Certs. It would serve as a status symbole and u have to pay for being able to reach 50.000 Certs (Membership), so DB would be happy too. -> U could expand on that Idea with a Helmet (Tophat) and other Cosmetics and callled it the "Cert-Millionaire".

A currency transfer system would be nice, so that you can pay players to do something for you or just to help them out. There could even be a task board where players could make tasks for other players (e.g. hire players to help them invade or defend a specific place, be their bodyguard …). How ever there should be restrictions like: transfer fees; you need to reach a specific rank to make tasks for other players; there could be a limit for the transferred currency, the higher your rank the more currency you can transfer; There could also be a daily or weekly limit; a currency transfer system could create an entire „ecosystem“.

Gifting certs is something that seems obvious, but then you run into a problem where people can power level through battle ranks, gain thousands of certs just from rolling a new character and playing them for a few hours, and they can then gift those certs to a main instead. I think for your idea to work, Cyrious, the cert-gifting needs to be restricted to, for example, a character that has made it past or at least BR 50 or something like that, where the cert gain per level doesn't exceed the cert gain per 250 experience. At BR 50, you have a total of 2.76 million XP, and an additional roughly 1.25 million xp in the form of gifted certs from BR rank-ups. That's about a 31% boost, but if you add on the condition of paying 5000 certs to enable gifting, you cancel out the 5000 certs earned from bonuses and now, you don't get any significant advantage from grinding a new character to cert farm. So this would enable 'fair' gifting in that you can't cheat or game the system to your advantage, which is the only real roadblock here. So the requirements are: BR 50 or higher, and pay an up front 5000 cert. This could be done a lot sooner at like, IDK, BR 30 with just a 3000 cert fee. I don't know the total XP's by heart, but XP gain per cert per level would have to level off at some point for rank-up boosts to not be so significant. BR 50 is just a safe number. I think beyond just a simple gifting system, giving vets the ability to give out certs, not as 'gifts' but as rewards for completing objectives, would enable them more than anything else. But obviously, some vets would still just rather grind on their own... It's tough to think of a solution that would make everyone happy. Construction is one thing, but most vets don't care to engage with construction. One think I'm sure players would love is taunts. Like, animations, etc, really dumb shit like that. If you make tons of new taunt animations and make them cert-unlockable, I have full confidence the vets will pour their certs into every single one. Because taunts are fun, period, no catch, no scheme, no mechanical benefit. They're just good dumb fun. As for the other stuff, uh... Server-fixing problems and anti cheater measures sounds good. I'd love to see them fixed that.

No Cyrious, increasing the currency caps is the exact opposite of what they should do. As you said yourself, vets stockpiling a war chest is a big problem for any newly-released content. The caps are already too high, that's why construction costs were astronomical on release, and why ISO and A7 were added in the first place.

Honestly, as a player who has played since basically launch (played TR for a few months then switched to VS), we own literally everything in the game. We have nothing to get other than new weapons that can only be purchased through cash. I could care less. Vets have gotten hundreds of thousands of certs, some even millions.

i personally completely agree with your ideas on these ingame resources. Account wide boosts as well as being able to gift certs, iso and a-7 all sounds great. i think its a bit weird that they start with taking away all of these banked resources before giving an option to use them, but hopefully that will change in the future.

A very simple fix that will help keep veterans a bit more interested while not affecting gameplay mechanics at all... Remove the level cap. I realized recently that I stopped playing one of my faction characters for no other reason than the fact that I 100-100 leveled it. I say keep the ASP reset at the first 100 level mark and then remove the level cap after that. If you've put in the hours to be at level 187, then it's worth it for you and other people on the battlefield around you to know it. It's not just about ego either, it's about displaying experience and competency with the game as well.

12:00 I have an idea for creative cert use for whales, but first let me say cert whales don't need more power and they are also not a significant portion of the player base. Anyways it would be cool if you could waste certs for cosmetic purposes, like what if you could purchase cosmetic loot crates for short term in game decoration? Imagine purchasing a call-down like an ANVIL except it's a gacha cosmetic supply crate that contains a fancy statue to admire, a ramp to play around with squadmates, a lighthouse beacon painting the area in your faction color, or a pimped out ANT? Honestly bad actors would abuse it and obstruct gameplay with it somehow but maybe with intangible assets or limited useability it would still be enjoyable.

Taking a leaf out of steam and the steam points system: why not spend currency (be it certs, ISO, anything else) on stuff like banners, titles and badges. A lot of end-game items in the majority of games tends to be cosmetic and for good reason. You want players to get the best gear possible early (Planetside does quite well in this regard, for infantry anyway), THEN spend currency on non-gameplay enhancing items afterwards. I think its a shame that Planetside has practically no cosmetics other than camos and armour. If they were to add tens or hundreds of different banners, badges, titles, and loadouts for them (perhaps like Titanfall 2), I think that would be great.

Well, you asked for feedback: 1 I agree with you on raising caps, this is the most fair way to resolve this for people who care. 2 I have said in the past that I support cert transfers for more than just these reasons. I personally quite enjoy the role of pubby leader, I like taking the new guys and showing them the ropes. If I could hand over some of my 50k certs to help them out I would love that. 3 I also agree with transferring one's own certs to other characters within the same account, I have suggested that in the past as one means of fixing population balance. Some players have a specific crew they run with and won't change factions for love or money. Others are just farting around in their free time and wouldn't care as much. If those guys could take some certs over to a less certed out faction character they might be willing to do so. 3a While I'm talking cert incentives to change factions, take that small exp boost for being on the underpopulated faction and add a 0. 20% boost for being underpopulated? Try 200% and some players will actually chase that carrot. Since we decided to force the omni-faction robots to bind to a faction if they want access to all the game's content, this might be a new path to address the NSOs original purpose. 4 Bit of a space because now it's time for what I recognize may be a controversial opinion: The mission system was never more than a solution looking for a problem, it never needed to exist. If it's causing problems that require dev attention to fix then just wipe it and pay out more exp in some other, lower dev maintenance way. I did come into this game nearly a decade ago (I wasn't in right from beta) excited by how many different things were going on all in one game, but this doesn't mean that any feature is a good feature. I've felt for some time that this game needs to cut some fat off the horse and focus its limited dev resources on the parts of the game that honestly matter. The mission system is one of the things I will call out as fat to be trimmed.

Leads put their points/certs/things into a pot. when they issue a command and those under them follow it, they get rewarded. Those that have the points/certs/things but are not in leadership possition can (if they want to) also add to the pot to encourage it some more.

simple fixes ... cert betting systems, allow capped out players to bet on points or alerts. OOOORRRRRR allow players to place cert rewards for their factions for capturing bases. this way new players can more incentive to cooporate with higher end players. lets say an outfit is trying to wrangle up some cherries and guide them to the next base. they can make it easier by placing cert rewards on a base with a icon next to showing what they need. if base gets capped then the rewards are split amongst all who did not input into the pot. if the base does not get capped in a reasonable time then there will be a 10% fee and the certs will be returned to the players who added to the pot.

Im very much against gifting stuff to players. I am still grinding my way to the top and i want to do it through my own "sweat and tears" so to speak and dont want freebees (Currently Im ASP 1 Rank 30). Also i think that it might involve some trading outside of the game (with real money) wich is not a good idea. Also you might make a new character, get into a big outfit with tens or even hundreds of veterans and be instantly fully kitted out. If i were a completely new player id think of that as unfair. And besides that it was insanely satisfying to unlock my first gun back in the day when i finally reached those 1000 certs. Cosmetics are a good idea, make tham expensive as fuck like 10 or 50k and they automatically become a status symbol and symbol of a lot af amassed experience. One day you might have a special title, decal, camo, armor, helmet and gun skin entirely bought with certs and everyone knows that you are very much a veteran at first glance. Kinda like with auraxium cosmetics now but entirely based on being a "cert-millionaire". Flaunt your ingame wealth and experience so to speak. A dapper dude with a tophat that didnt necessarily spend thousands of bucks in real money.

Was just putting some thought into this, if gifting removes/reduces the grind for newer players, making them stick around longer in the short term but less in the long term when they eventually become the master, then how about making a very excessive and over the top grind for veterans wanting to give their excess stuff away, like you have to earn 10 (or even 100) times the experience to give away one, one cert, and while you work on that, you pause your ability to earn new certs.

A couple of hopes for this year's updates: 1. Fix Oshur frame rate issues, for some reason Oshur is much more technically demanding than the other continents and it causes frame rate issues for me. New Weapons (or maybe a fully fleshed out weapon class!) For the vets: give them a sort of cert/iso/a7-dump. Like a the prize machine in Splatoon 3 or the 7zee Rewards program in Slime Rancher.

One idea for certs would be using certs to boost outfit cool downs and capacity. Instantly build a bastion module for a cert fee. Or increase the amount of capacity, with ever increasing cost.

An idea based on discord nitro boosting is outfits could have curated weapons, loadouts, vehicle setups, etc that could be copied by outfit members to use. But they need to be funded constantly to be available, with certs most likely. More expensive and complete modification packages beget higher cert upkeep costs, and could scale the cost based on the size of the outfit. Ideally, also with hand-picked cosmetics that get rented for use, so players who otherwise would never EVER have a camo or their outfit logo to display would get to share it while matching their group's doctrine. Balance wise, could be a nanite-pull from the user's end. Maybe even with a cooldown, but nanites covers that side of it. Could be for a myriad of uses, like outfits that exist solely to share the flavor-of-the-month weapon they're all trying to auraxium together for the journey. Or so that an entire platoon can actually follow along when asked to pull a specific thing, even funny stuff like a smoke grenade launcher and three smoke grenades. Might also work fine in a way that players of a certain rank can curate their own loadouts to share, when they're squad/platoon lead or something. Then public peeps can try out the big boy toys.

Imagine if we could cert into outfit resource projects. Like having more space in the garage. Or having actual loadout slots for the bastion, where an outfit could collectively spend their certs to buy an extra AA belly gun for the thing, and then spend a few more certs to swap out one of the existing belly guns to the new AA gun they just bought. Im thinking along the lines of the Fleet project system seen in Star Trek Online. Fleets could collectively dump mass amounts of resources to unlock cosmetic items, along with the ability to purchase different bits of kit for their ships and captains. A similar system in PS2 could use any and all forms of currency. Including contributing spare implants directly to potential outfit projects as a way to contribute to them. That would be a massive undertaking to implement and balance though.

I'm not maxed out so my opinion might be different if I were. But the idea of gifting certs to other players makes me uneasy for some reason. Maybe because I like to feel like I earned all my gear and guns etc. If I were brand new and someone gave me a ton of certs, I'd probably feel half excited about it and half annoyed lol. No freebies thanks, working towards those goals is part of what keeps me playing and taking that away from new players so vets have something they can grind for kinda feels like creating a problem in order to solve one. At least to me. Gifting certs to your alts seems better to me. I do have TR, VS and NS alts but I rarely play them even if I'm tempted to because I don't have all my usual toys to play with.

Personally I think the removal of mission hoarding is a big mistake, sure maxed out veterans might have been hoarding piles and piles of them but what about the people that are not maxed out? One of if not THE advantage of being a member is/was that you got more daily missions(not a advantage anymore), you got the +50% xp modifier which also boosted the mission rewards and you got the monthly double xp that also boosted mission rewards so you could do daily missions and then cash them in during the double xp weekend. So as a paying customer, for years, often during times I have not even played the game at all I am now seriously reconsidering if I want to keep paying membership. I want to support the game but it SERIOUSLY feels like the devs are exploiting my good will and at the same time taking advantage to shaft me as hard as possible to see where the limit is before I call it quits, and this might be it. Doubt I am the only one feeling almost targeted by these changes and what does not make any sense is that the ones that are most negatively affected by this are their paying membership customers wile the F2P people are not affected nearly as much. Strangely enough I am sure they will be confused when they see a drop in membership customers after this change, I wonder why?

I never thought about hoarding missions. That wasn't a bad idea. I would just buy a gun or vehicle upgrade to disperse some of my certs. I guess hoarding wasn't a place I was sitting yet I'd love more black ops/mercenary missions. But that's more of an A7 currency thing What if they start making armor or helmets that were part of the initial launch or that aren't player-made purchasable with certs? You could make them worth like 20,000 certs each or something to offset the hours played vs the cost to make

And there are also plenty of games that don't have a grind that keep people around, Halo, warhawk, Openspades, Minecraft, Intruder, Half-life, Streets of Rogue. Look you don't need to change a game or add grinding mechanics to capture yourself a dedicated fan base that to this day are still thrilled to play the game. I'd actually would argue against going with these sort of thing as you'll find yourself fall into the pit of feature creep and power creep which can hinder a game's ability to welcome new players into the community and promotes more gatekeeping.

Planetside 2 on the playstation 4 was always a match made in hell, combining a game with an abysmal CPU utilization problem and the very slow CPU cores in the PS4 is a recipe for disaster. Plus the PS4 also only has a meager amount of RAM.

Its also a huge nerf to membership, the entire mission grind for the monthly 2x weekend has been removed which was like 80% of the benefit of paying for membership. Seems kinda clueless by them, would be odd if the membership customers does not drop quite a lot after this and that is their monthly revenue being hit.

Let players buy consumables or specific types of vehicles with certs. Like for 1k certs you can pull a colossus tank once or something. I get there's the concern of unintentionally encouraging new players to dump their certs into these things (maybe put a level requirement for their purchase) but it would give veterans a constant cert dump alongside something to strive for every now and then. Note this is a surface level idea and balancing specifics would obviously need to be investigated

boosts not being account wide is the reason why i dont bother with them, i play all 3 factions evenly its a daily mood thing. even though im new to the game i already spent alot of € in cosmetics. all they archieve is gatekeeping people interested in spending money. there is no way i buy 6 heroic boosts if it would be 2 i'd totally buy that.

For veterans, allow a expnsive way to unlock other empire weapons at high price with combination of Certs and A7. Pros: lots of new stuff to grind for. No need to create new things for devs. Cons: People will complain that it destroyes empires uniquines.

Personally. This looks very bad on planetside 2. It almost kind feels like they are pushing the narrotive now to just push masses of sales just for the sake of it. I got perma banned but i personally would not feel very happy knowing that i had stocked up on a bunch of hard earned rewards in the game and then the developers just take it away because they feel like people are able to accumulate it faster then they expected. That feels just off. I rarely voice my opinion on here anymore. But personally i often speak out for the silent voices. And personally i have to say as a person who mainly played completely without paying for the most part (mainly bought like skins.) I can say that i'd feel tricked and scammed if i knew this. Especially for those who paid up membership and got those extra missions. This is a very bad move on daybreaks behalf.

6:20 the problem here is they decided to go with a progression base currency for a mmo game with no hard cap on earning. As a result players will always be able to generate more of this currency than the devs can force them to spend it as such the currency then loses more and more of it's value till it's basically worthless than the devs add another currency to renew the value in it but it just resets the whole problem. There needs to be either a hard cap of how much a player can earn total or we must swap to another currency format all together which is a bit late to do without reworking the whole game economy. The worst part is this was known to be a problem before they implemented back in launch as you could of looked at other games like WOW, Everquest, runescape, etc. Now a few of them have come up with fixes over the years but they all at one point or another ran into this exact problem of too much currency.

Real question is, wtf is the point of having caps in the first place? Just so you can say 'oh yeah, members have higher caps'? That is a really weak incentive for membership... especially when all it does is push the problem out in time instead of eliminating it. Just remove the caps for everyone. In game currency is the reward for the player for playing the game, creating a cap is basically stealing that reward for no reason. If the limit is technical, ie. hitting integer limits and whatnot then guess what? They should refactor the code. As for your solutions. 1) short term solution- pushing problem away in time just as membership does vs f2p. 2) gifting certs opens up door to selling certs for real money. That by itself is a problem, but on top of it, it also creates economy centered about certs which introduces issue of inflation. Basically this creates more problems than it could ever solve. 3) Long term solution - also not a solution to anything. Introducing more implants or guns basically just increases the point of entry for newer players. Implants are already outrageously priced for a random f2p inexperienced player, adding more of them is just gonna make that player say 'fuck this' and quit. There definitely needs to be a cert sink, but it is not a simple solution in a game like this. Being able to move certs to alts is definitely good step, but does not completely fix the issue. However, being able to spend certs from main on your alts while also having no cap is a good buffer to come up with actual, well thought out solution. That being said, at some point vets just have to accept they are done with the grind. As for CTF changes- Only good CTF change is its removal, anything else is basically useless change. Those bases are bigger cancer than containment sites. I used to play this game a lot, but ever since they introduced containment sites I find myself more and more often in situations where i don't want to play. Containment Sites, Oshur, CTF... Game is being filled with crap that is hard to enjoy so i log in, play a bit, see battles get bogged down by some of the garbage i just mentioned and i log out. With every one of these logouts it takes longer for me to get back into the game, let alone spend any money on it. This actually started with orbital strikes but yeah...
