First Person Memory

Due to my Aphantasia, I also have SDAM (Severely Deficient Autobiographical Memory), I never remember anything in the first person.
This is why I keep a diary.

The more I learn about this, the more depressed I become, this (and another) video I came across what I had suspected, I just didn't know the name of what it was. I'm willing to bet there is a community of people with this deficit, that share very similar experiences. I was probably drawn to photography for those reasons. It's just sad that, even looking back at all of the images I've captured over the years, I can barely remember the names of the people in the photos or even context. A lot of my memory if basically "vibes" based at this point. The only good thing about this, is the ability to watch Films and TV shows over and over, which, is great, but also extremely depressing, for the same reason.

Sorry to hear you feel down about this. I have a podcast about Aphantasia (experience.computer) and one of the phrases I've heard from people (and to a lesser extend SDAM) about all this is 'it is what it is' or 'that was a thing that happened'. It's just how I - and you? - experience our lives. We can develope have strategies for dealing with it (I guess there's a reason people wrote names of people on the back of physical photos back in the day) As you say though. You live more in the present than other people, and some who brood and ache about past events etc would call that a blessing. Re-watch all the films you want!
