"Creating bonsai from scratch, in an affordable way." This is what I enjoy about you and your channel: you make bonsai seem accessible. Thanks.

Hi Nigel. I particularly enjoyed hearing about your goals for the channel. The number of people who tune in to your content goes to show that there are a lot of people like us who enjoy creating our own trees. I'm not even sure if I would want a finished tree created by someone else.

🌳🌳You do an awesome job, Nigel! We appreciate all your hard work and effort. 🌴Your trees are wonderful, from the small to the tall. There is so much vulgarity in the 🌎 world today, and you, sir, are the opposite of that. 🪲A retreat into a more wholesome side of life.🌿 🍁Thank you from the bottom of my roots.🍂

It’s definitely satisfying over type to start from scratch. The refinement only can go so far but actually GROWING the trees yourself is more personal. So I definitely agree!

Great video and philosophy Nigel, you have some really nice tree's in your collection and it's great to show people how they can start a bonsai without a large financial cost. Bonsai is a hobby that usually turns into a passion espesicially if you grow the tree's yourself.

I like your goals for the channel. While it's fun to refine a already well developed tree, it's also great fun to start from scratch and develop a small stick into a bonsai. Your channel has a great balance of both!

i like the starting from seed idea. or sometimes i collect trees from my property and pot them. and occasionally i buy trees that dont grow here, just love watching them grow up and dealing with them as time goes on.

Nice trim! I'm always glad to see both ends of the spectrum when it comes to bonsai. I love watching a seed transform into a tree, watching the bark and branch structure develop. But I also love to watch people excavate a tree out of some remote nowhere dot on a map, drag that sucker out and into a truck, then turn it into some crazy wide stump with twigs. Eventually I will try it, just to say I did. But for now I will just watch others struggle HAHA! You have great goals for your channel and we LOVE your content! That is what made you the well known Canadian Bonsai artist that you are! I want to say famous. But look at your following and your influence. It's beautiful. You have grown all of us along with your trees! Thank you for that!💙❤💚💚

Nigel, I really like how you transformed this little tree today. I like your idea of working on "creating bonsai from scratch". I have always done that, especially since the older trees have become so incredibly expensive. I have one bougainvillea in my collection which dates from 1985. It is really beginning to look awesome. Thanks for your video. Enjoy viewing your projects.

the waiting is painful, but seeing the progression of your own tree versus buying a ready made bonsai in my opinion is much more enjoyable

Nice work on the pruning of the tree. Taking your time and really looking at the tree gives you an idea of how you want the tree to grow. Better safe than sorry in making the wrong decision. Your channel is number one in my book. I like starting from seed. Then you have your own style and you can nature them to your individuality. Always great videos.

Hi Nigel! Your goal of showing progression of trees is exactly why I follow your channel and I really enjoy it. I watched almost all your videos of the last three years, since I started bonsais. I like the playlists showing single trees through time. Thank you from Quebec!

Hi Nigel. falta paciência hoje em dia, o processo pode ser um pouco mas demorado mas você criar um bonsai desde do zero é muito gratificante, gosto muito de linha de trabalho, parabéns por mas um vídeo.

A Charlie Brown Christmas tree would be great for the fall show; a little CB figurine beside the tree and a blanket around the trunk. Maybe just one red decoration ball hanging on the tree.🎄That would encourage newcomers to participate in the show.

Hi Nigel! I agree with your philosophy of growing a bonsai from seed and showing the progression of the tree over the years. I believe the fun and rewarding aspect of bonsai is growing a tree from either seed, a cutting, or a young inexpensive tree and watching/helping it grow into a show tree. There are many lessons to learn from nature this way.

Nigel, this video came in perfect time for me. I’ve been training a Douglas fur that I collected for the last 3 years. Unfortunately I have to leave town and the tree dried out. The top half looks totally dead but still have green below. Should I prune off the top or should I wait until spring to see if the top has any life?

This has prompted a question. For Nigel or anyone in comments please. When dealing with a sapling if you apply wire and make an S when it's only 12 inches tall is that then stuck at 12 inches? I.e. if you wanted a 2 foot trunk the S would only be at the 12 nch portion you originally did or does it grow upwards with the upper growth too.
@baldyeti
@baldyeti Жыл бұрын
New growth would be on top of your S. The “S” will stay the same size, or possibly straighten out a bit (depending on the tree)
