Important to remember that dis-similar metals will corrode quicker, only us stainless steel screws or nuts and bolts. A good antenna for your marine radio is critical as well as mounting it as high as possible. Relying on cell phones for navigation isn't a good plan, I hope you have a quality nav unit or two.

Charging for pump out is crazy. Long Island New York it’s free everywhere you go. There’s even boats that go around pumping out boats for free from the towns.

when drilling gel coat and fibreglass slightly counter the hole to prevent cracking the gel coat when tightening the screws

A lot of similarities we experienced when we bought our fifth wheel.. lots to learn and lots of great advice from others is always helpful and appreciated when offered in a kind way. When people give advice in a not so friendly way, take it with a grain of salt.. very proud of you two following a dream and making it a reality. One life, one chance, be happy!!❤

Great to watch your progress! My son and I did the loop in 2013. Experience of a lifetime. When drilling into glass, use a lot more sealant. Water WILL get into the tiniest little separation, so put sealant all the way around the edges, so it gushes out when you screw the fitting down. Clean up the excess with mineral spirits. Also, next time you pump out, find a hose and give the tank a good rinse. That will help prevent smells, since after you've pumped out, there's a lot of air in the tank that will allow the nasty stuff to grow.

Apologies Carly, but I loved watching you struggle with tying off the rope at the end... looks like it might be easier to drop it behind you and walk out than try tossing it over your shoulder 🤣😇

use the hole! We use these when we charter sailboats in the BVI's all the time. Just make sure you use enough of them per piece of clothing( x3) if the wind picks up.

I always assumed the hole in the clothes pin was for the line, but it doesn't matter. I have just shoved them on there for the last 40 years.

Hi, like your videos. One advice on mounting hardware on outside of the boat. Don't use silikone. Use 3M or Sikaflex product. Silikone will break down after while. Lifetime boat building experience. Cheers Joe from Vancouver Canada.

Silicone will also absorb into the surface. You can never get it all off. Polyurethane products only. Also look into butyl tape as a good bedding material that does not break down.

You will want that 124' rope for tying off to shore on several of your anchorings! I can think of plenty of places that other channels have used shore lines to secure their anchorage

Lived and boated in the Boynton Beach area. Stayed many time in the early 2000s across the intracoastal at the marina there. Great marina, close to downtown Delray. Looks like you live south of there on a finger canal. Recognized some of the tall condos.

To suggestions for your bridge nav station one is do not mount anything close to the compus ot will interfere with the magnetic properties two do gind away to hsve a cover over the entire instrument area when not in use between the effects of the sun and weather it is the only way to help insure longevity

As far back as you can go with clothespins... you don't want gusts of wind blowing your skivvies around the water LOL

Great video! You both are doing a great job! With the pump out, dollar tree has a package of white disposable gloves that are great for boating pump out and other messy things!

Suggestion for your next pump out…..use disposable gloves just in case of accidental spillages.

ALWAYS wear disposable gloves when pumping out. There is a lot of bacteria on the hose, valve, and nozzle.

Those propane tanks are in a very dangerous place. If they leak , propane is heavier than air and can leak into your living area . They should be in box on the fly bridge properly vented. Even if they are spares

Came here to say this. Those tanks need to be stored in a proper locker that vents to the outside of the boat!

just so you know moving forward... homedepot stainless hardware sucks and will rust waaay before any other of the stainless screws. you need to get your hardware at worst marine or if you have another real boat supply store around you. also never ever use silicone on a boat you need to use 3m 5200,4200, 4000uv. these are not silicone but rather urethane adhesive sealants instead of silicone. silicone really sucks, the worst part about silicone is after you use nothing will stick to where it was used not even silicone.

Glad you brought up the poor quality of HD stainless hardware. Find a west marine, or a quality hardware store that sells a good grade of stainless.

You chipped the hell out of the fiberglass when you put that oversize screw in the undersized hole. If you’re kind of new at doing stuff, ask for opinions and how to install things from people because we’ll save you a lot of damage to your boat. Those look like size 10 or 12 screws when all you needed are size 6 or 8. And that’s because you had three separate holes in three separate corners …you don’t need a whole lot of gripping to keep it from falling off or getting loose. Most times the grade of silicone used outside FOR A BOAT, is important. 3M Marine Silicone is ideal. House stuff, not so much.
@gonzof1

In the future, do not use silicone! Use 3M 4000 (never 5200!) or Sikaflex. Silicone will never allow you to paint without a ton of prepping. Please throw away every silicone tube you have and go buy the good stuff.
