Related to the heavy side part sooooo much LOL, I used to have one in elementary school and it was horrendous. But the thing was my parents always told me it looked bad LOL but I for some reason thought it looked great. And about the not fitting in part, I relate so much too. Ive experienced that in various phases in my life, but something I realised as I became am adult is to (as cliche as it sounds) just be yourself and to be comfortable with "not fitting in". Thing is, you could be full on korean born and going to school in korea, but realistically, would you be friends with all the korean kids at your school? At least for me, I know the answer is no, I'd just be friends with people I get along and vibe with. And I think that's very much the same here. Yes, curtural differences play a role: I've never quite felt korean or fully american. But I've learned you can get along with koreans and nonkoreans alike just based on who you do click with. Rather than feeling like it's because youre not korean enough, it helped me to just view as we have our differences and that's just not personally the type of person I am, and I'd rather not force myself to change and act in a certain way to fit in. I've had my fair share of experiences of not fitting and trying so hard to change myself and to fit in, but through these experiences and over the years, I've learned it's not worth trying to suppress parts of yourself and act like someone you're not to impress others. You don't need to impress those people when there are plenty of others who already love and are impressed by who you currently are.
