My favourite thing about muse is they have a song for literally any feeling, you want choir or big band music? You want rock or dubstep? You want classical or emo? They got you

I heard somewhere that Matt wasn't supposed to be the lead singer. The band initially wanted to have someone with a more rock-ish voice (Matt is a falsetto), but they were running out of time so he became the lead singer by default. WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE GREAT!!!

Muse are unique. And Matt Bellamy is a very special talent. I first encountered Muse at a festival in 2002 (in the days when MB also often played piano) and never looked back.

I have always considers Muse to be the modern Queen. Many different sounds and songs, but they have their own sound, and Matt Bellamy has incredible talent with so much musically; piano, vocals, guitar… Yes.

I'm so happy you've started reacting to Muse! This song is very good but you've barely scratched the surface of what they are capable of. They have a whole universe of incredible music, and many masterpieces which are so much better than their mainstream songs played on the radio. They are an essential rock band. Glad your Muse journey has begun!

More Muse please! Especially live. They formed in ‘94 as 15 year olds. The first Muse album dropped in ‘99, but they didn’t get a lot of attention in the US until the mid 2000’s. Honestly, they’re still a lot bigger in Britain and Europe. And yes, they’re still going strong! Saw them on tour in 2019 and they were, as always, spectacular!

I first heard Muse in 99. There was a local station that played new/indie/not well known bands. They played Muscle Museum. I liked them, then forgot about them for 10 years...oops.

You are soooo missing out! Muse is stronger than ever and incomparable. Their live performances are much better than their studio sound.

I love your reaction about Matt Bellamy's voice 😊 If you want to hear how so beautiful his voice is, listen to Exogenesis part 1, Megalomania, The void acoustic, Micro cuts, Spiral static, Con-science, Shrinking universe, for example...

A great choice for a reaction with this song. Some have suggested that Matt wrote it about his Ex of the time, but it does fit the concept/story told by the album. The whole of Drones is definitely worth a listen in a single sitting if you can. As for bands to compare to Muse, their first album Showbiz was criticized as being too reminiscent of Radiohead (it didn't help that it was produced by John Leckie). In any case they have long diverged from that sound. For Muse at their most Queen-like try United States of Eurasia from The Resistance.

First album in 1999, and they just released a new single, Won’t Stand Down, which I highly recommend for a reaction. Also: Panic Station, The Dark Side, Algorithm, and Blockades are songs I recommend off the top of my head.

Man, it's not just you that heard his voice similar to Freddie at least in style. If you're interested, I recommend you to listen to "United States of Eurasia" and "Survival", those songs have not only in voice, but in music so much in common with Queen. Cheers!

I know this is a really old video but I'll say you shouldn't worry about comparing, as long as it's not negative it's not insulting in any way or anything, my favourite music reactor (dave from samechick) always compares their songs to all the songs he knows and it's really interesting to hear his thoughts on what reminds him of what

You're definitely right about the Freddie Mercury comparison, I knew what you will say ... it's true. Matt is also one of the greatest singers of all time, no doubt. I absolutely adore Muse and I've been their hardcore fan since their beginnings, but this song is a vocal masterpiece. That's why I started searching for the reactions to this particular song.
