One thing that keeps getting me during this choreo is that Irene is wearing a custom-made corset. I'm a historical costume hobbyist and looking at the way it's designed, even with the most flexible boning, to keep the shape it's keeping in the front in particular means the boning is still quite rigid. She's worn it in the video AND for performances, so for her to have as much flexibility and movement as she does in a garment that is designed to do the opposite of that kind of speaks to her core strength as well. It's not tight-laced or anything so I wouldn't expect it to impact her breathing in any way, but any flexing from the top of her bust full down to her hips? That's difficult to do in a boned garment!

I don’t think the Velvet side is necessarily the “darker” side, because you have songs like for example Eyes Locked Hands Locked, Little Little and Candy which are all Velvet but not dark. Or for the entire The Velvet album. I thiink the Velvet side is more of a music thing, like songs more inspired by 90’s R&B and also pure ballads, or can have a more jazzy sound too. Which is why I don’t really consider Peek a Boo or Psycho velvet songs. But it’s interesting how they play around with their concepts. I love Red Velvet 😭

They are also considered trendsetters. I learned that Lee Soo Man coined the term *idols* when it was briefly mentioned in the BBC documentary k-pop idols: inside the hit factory. It discussed k-pop's history up to this day and they interviewed LSM and SM artists among others. It was revealed that LSM's first artist was caught of drug possession which is totally unacceptable in korea which is a country with high moral standards and so seeing this as a valuable lesson, he started a training system that says to be successful, his artists would not need to be only incredible performers, they'd also have to be well-mannered. Thus, he began developing a system for training raw talent in which comes the idea of calling them "idols" and not -artists- or -stars-

I love this subunit debut. It’s amazing! Irene and Seulgi are incredible! Irene is the one you mentioned to have a younger tone. She’s the leader, rapper, visual, and oldest member of Red Velvet. Irene seems a little stiff in the choreo but she's also still getting treated for her back injury (that twist you were impressed with cost her during the MV making). All the times you pointed out or times I noticed she was more stiff than usual were during and right after she did something that could cause back tension. Before my spinal disease finally got diagnosed, back injuries were still really scary (I would push through any kind of hip, knee, ankle injury) and if she's getting pain injections those actually worsen your pain for a few days before it gets better.

You didn't hear those voice in performance video it's because they were singing live. It's hard to sing while dancing. They don't lip syncing. Imagine, dancing a hard steps, but also singing a powerful song.

The performance normally just record the live of it all, dance and their live vocals. The backtrack in the performance video (though the first video you watched is the fancam) is usually heavily toned down Fun fact: (Disclaimer, I casually follow Red Velvet, so don't quote me completely) Irene normally gets short vocal lines and is the main rapper for the group (though ofc you can see her vocals are not underwhelming at all). I believe this is the first time for her to showcase much of her vocals with the heavier choreo for a main single. I legit was super surprised by her vocals in the 2nd verse cuz I haven't seen so much attitude from much of her rap/vocal lines as in this single, if it showed in the b-sides, I didn't know cuz I only on occasion listen to their b-sides

A beautiful piece of art I would recommend watching is from Road To Kingdom - The Boyz performance of quasi uni fantasia. It has such beautiful and fluid choreography and is a truly beautiful performance P.S.the whole performance was done live so there wee no retakes as it is a competition show if anyone enjoys this performance of there's I would definitely recommend to watch more performances from kingdom.

You should check out performance videos for this song. There are top and middle note versions and a video of their combination which has insane editing work there. I love how their dance goes from fast and kinda choppy movements to slower more fluid ones. It fascinates me. Also, if you are interested check out Dongkiz - Luping dance practice. They work with canes there and it is amazing, I've never seen anything like this before.

u apparently never heard of G idle, this girl group really delivers that ODD style very well, their recent song called "Oh My God" and OH MY GOD ITS SO GOOD, also they have other amazing songs like: Latata, LION, Hann.. i think they still considered rookies but they're VERY GOOD their leader Soyeon writes and produce mostly all of their songs and she's the rapper of the group i'm sure u gonna love them, you'll be surprised of how many girl groups out there that don't go w the cute style honestly and lots of them have strong choreos but people would rather sleep on them please check them out and thank u
