There are many secret stories leaking out within the industry regarding the composition of A2K's debut members. I'm not sure which one to believe, but the most credible story is that Universal Music, which was in charge of promotion in the United States, insisted on forming a small group. From JYP's perspective, he tried to debut everyone because he has experience in successfully creating multi-member groups with 9 or more members, but Universal insisted that the group should be 4 or less in the US market, so the number of members was not decided until the end. In particular, it is said that both Gina and Kaylee were on the verge of being eliminated, as there was pressure to exclude members who were too young. However, JYP wanted to add a few more members, so they were able to increase the number of members by a few more. In other words, 1st to 4th place are members agreed upon, and 5th to 6th place are additional members according to JYP's wishes. If so, you'll understand why Kaylee and Kendall were chosen. Since he couldn't add two younger members, if he could only choose one of them, he would have had to choose Kaylee. Because Kaylee's scores were better on the show, so there would be greater criticism if they eliminated her and picked Gina over her.
