There is a real history of Japan invading Korea. There was a case where Japanese samurai murdered South Korean Queen Myeongseong. This was aired as a drama. It's the theme song for that drama. Koreans are more saddened by this song.

This song is about the last Korean Empress Myeong Seong who had been murdered by the Japanese soldiers in 1895. It reminds many Koreans of their sorrows about the sad history that Korea was invaded and tortured by Japanese imperialism.
