[First Reaction To] ONEUS - Valkyrie. Why Is This SO GOOD! New Hwanwoong Bias?

As requested by a lovely Patron, Drava, here is my first reaction, and first time hearing the extremely talented ONEUS! With their debut(?) song, Valkyrie! I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed Valkyrie, and Leedo with Seoho definitely stood out to me with their combined vocals. However, stealing the vast majority of my attention was the seemingly cheeky, yet absolute dancing machine, Hwanwoong!! Plus his vocals were an absolute delight XD I look forward to getting to know this group more in the future!
To Moons (Moons?) could you please let me know if I got names correct and what I missed from this MV as I am sure there were plenty!

Just a fun fact for you, there was a Weekly Idol episode with both Ateez and Oneus and they had a section where they competed against each other, and Mingi went to the Oneus team to even things out (7 and 7 instead of 8 and 6) and their interactions were just so fun. You may not care, but my ult group is Onewe a brother group to Oneus under RBW and there is a set of twins Xion from Oneus and Dongmyeong in Onewe (which is a band). The MVs for Oneus are some of the most visually stunning in Kpop for me.

TO MOON represents the fans as the “moon” who always orbit ONEUS, represented by “Earth.” Hwanwoong is the main dancer and Xion is the maknae. Thank you for reacting to ONEUS! #JusticeforXion although in the pre-debut days he did say he wasn’t confident in his singing…. 😭

Most people's duo biases are Seoho and Leedo. They're literally on opposite ends of any spectrum (voice, personality, skinship XD) but are super comfortable with each other. Stan the ace line of ONEUS.

And yes it is debut song. Yes they all can sing, rap and dance. Seoho especially was scouted as a dancer, auditioned as a rapper and was the main singer. Hwanwoong was a dancer originally and was 1st in his performing arts school. Yes keonhee is really tall, and Hwanwoong is really sort (one of the shortest in kpop)

Valkary is a play on words. Valkarye means light up (which goes into the album name light us)or something like that but it sound like Valkarye in English and they do mention that in the lyrics.about that you are the angel (valkarye being the angel of death in Norse mythology) in the darkness. And in this mv they play alot with light and how it comes from a single source like you are light up thier life.

Also yes, Hwanwoong is the main dancer but Seoho and Leedo are the other members that are the best at dancing, they have two main vocals (Seoho and Keonhee) and the group has no leader. RAVN and Leedo was the main rapper and Xion is the maknae and ofc deserved more lines in their songs. ONEUS is an incredible talented group and are very underrated sadly :( but they have amazing music and performances! They're know as the stage geniuses and concept kings (if you watch more of their mvs you'll know why ;) ). Hope you check more of their stuff in the future~ thanks again^^

yayy love Oneus! And RAVN is pronounced like Raven the bird. You do say it with a V. It's just in Korean they don't have the V sound so they usually replace it with a B sound, but it's meant to be pronounced with a V.

Xion actually had one of the choruses near the end. To be fair he himself requested less lines during debut as he wasn't confident enough.

@@atgnireactions5343 Yes Xion only trained for a few months while his hyungs trained for years so he was less experienced. He's more confident now. He still gets the least lines tho not by much, occasionally center positions, and he has a lot of screentime, as expected of the visual:)

Because he was very self conscious, Xion chose to have less lines in many of their initial title tracks, but had a few more parts on the B-Sides. He’s much more confident now, and just last year, released his first solo cover, which is Defying Gravity from Wicked.

Hwanwoong is a CRAZY dancer! he's one of my favorites in 4th gen, it's a shame that people don't talk about him enough. he's very fluid and sharp at the same time, i personally love it when he does his sexy "feminine" moves when doing certain choreos (to moons probably know what i'm talking about lol) but he eats any concept

You should give their brother group (literally and metaphorically, as they're from the same company, but they also share a set of twins, Xion[oneus] and Dongmyeong[onewe] between them) Onewe a listen. I consider Yonghoon of Onewe to be one of the best current vocalists in the industry, alongside Changmin and Jongho.

I agree about yonghoon. His vocals are insane. He’s literally one of the best but for me my two favorite vocalists are yonghoon and kihyun from monsta x. But I love all the singers you listed to. They are amazing also :)

Oh my gosh oneus. This makes me so happy. If you like oneus and I know you are already a stay. You should defiantly give monsta x a try. They are the band I told you about awhile back where the leader was roommates with Chan from stray kids. The three songs I’m going to give you will kind of show you how they where and are now. You should defiantly try shootout it had all seven members. We sadly lost wonho who’s a successful solo artist. The second would be gambler that has six members in it and just to give you something different from them you should do love that has five members. The leader shownu who I told you about is in the military returns to us next month but we also lose another member to the military before shownu comes back. That’s only if you want to give them a try :) no worries if you can’t. Now for oneus hwanwoong is my bias but so is xion. And xion twin brother is one of my wreckers in the band onewe. I’m so excited to see your journey through them :)

At the beginning Xion wasn’t so confident in singing (I’m pretty sure he had a very small training period) and hence had lesser lines… but these days he’s been getting confident and has lines now

All the members except for Keonhee can and have Rapped. There is a version of Lit for Road to Kingdom, where Seoho- who was injured at the time and couldn’t dance, did a Rap they wrote specifically for him. There is also a song written by Cya/Geuk from Onewe, and Ravn that all the members - except for Keonhee, take turns rapping during live performances.

I'm not certain how their overall concept is shown in this MV but their overall concept loosely explained is that they are sort of vampires (more clear in their second album with the title track Twilight). When I first became a To Moon someone explained to me that in the ending part of the mv some of the members are shown having special abilities (Leedo - the wings, Seoho - flying/soaring, Hwanwoong - magic/telekinesis, Keonhee - becoming invisible/telepporting, for Xion and Ravn I'm not sure what it was supposed to be) which sometimes is shown in later mvs. .

You got the members correct and did a good job with pronunciation, other than being overly concerned about Korean lacking a V. How do you pronounce V of BTS? Same here - it's RAVN as in the bird. Xion is the maknae and he didn't get many lines for a long time but recently he's been singing more. A real tomoon is going to have to help you with the MV concept. I always loved the song but never paid much attention to the lyrics and didn't try to analyze the MV, however I don't know if I'd call Valkyries Odin's elite if you meant it in a military way. Their function was to guide dead souls to Valhalla. Hwangwoon is indeed the main dancer and choreographer and I'd call Seoho the main singer tho as far as I know Oneus doesn't have official positions or even a leader. Imo the best dancers are Hwangwoon, Leedo and Seoho. Seoho often does their dance stunts and probably because of that he's been injured a couple of times. I forget which comeback it was but I remember being pleasantly shocked to see Leedo singing Seoho's lines when Seoho wasn't able to perform. Leedo is a triple threat as a rapper, dancer and singer. To back up a step, there are several things you can expect from every group under RBW (Rainbowbridge World): top tier vocals, creative involvement in songwriting and choreo, stylistic versatility & musical diversity, and (unfortunately) that their popularity, success and sales don't come close to matching their talent level. RBW has a great eye & ear for talent and they give their groups a lot of artistic freedom but they suck at promoting them and helping them achieve the commercial success and global recognition they deserve. The other groups under RBW are girl groups Mamamoo and Purple Kiss, boy group Vromance and rock band Onewe. Btw, Xion is the twin brother of Onewe's keyboard player/singer Dongmyeon. The two groups are close friends and have collaborated on several songs. Oneus are known for their theatrical performances and I can vouch for how dynamic they are live. I got to see them in NY when they were on their first US tour as rookies in 2019 and they were terrific despite missing Seoho. They've only gotten better since then. If you ever get the chance definitely try to see them live. Have fun exploring their discography!

У каждого, кто более менее глубоко вникает в группу появится биас, даже если он будет утверждать, что его нет😂 мой биас - Сохо, во первых, у него очень приятный и красивый голос, даже не зная, кто из них кто, при случайном прослушивании их песен в плейлистах, мне всегда запоминался голос Сохо, во вторых, он хороший танцор и перформер, а далее очень интересный человек, местами уморной, симпатичный👀 и конечно же надёжный хён, который может почти все👌 есть много пунктов, по которым ты замечаешь его как артиста или человека. В принципе, все мемберы классные, у них довольно приятное чувство как от группы.
