Drowning Pool has one of the most tragic stories in Metal. They were on the cusp of international stardom, until their lead singer Dave Williams passed away after their first album release, due to a rare heart condition. DP are still around making good music but never quite the same after the death of their original singer. Dave was probably the most talented song writer in Nu Metal, had tons of amazing hooks, melodies, and a unique voice. Had he not passed away, Drowning Pool would be talked about in the same vein as Deftones, Korn, and System of a Down.

In a statement posted at Drowning Pool's website, the band responded: "We were devastated this weekend to learn of the tragic events that occurred in Arizona and that our music has been misinterpreted, again. 'Bodies' was written about the brotherhood of the mosh pit and the respect people have for each other in the pit. If you push others down, you have to pick them back up. It was never about violence. It's about a certain amount of respect and a code."

There are very few songs that get me as immediately psyched up as this one, listening to this banger makes it feel like your blood has been replaced with fire and as soon as that hook kicks in you just go beast-mode. One of my favorite concert memories involves this song. Drowning Pool was playing on the 2nd stage at Ozzfest at Nissan Pavilion. They played a hell of a set and Dave speaks to the crowd and says during this last song I want to see every fucking body hit the floor. The entire crowd turned into a huge mosh pit and I ended up getting crowd surfed through the entire song. They were unknown before that show...afterwards, everyone in attendance knew who they were. I went to 8 Ozzfests over 10 years and that performance is still one of the best I've ever seen.

Early 2000s metal was really underrated, many old school rockers would hate on anything "new" that was brought to metal. 20+ later this song is still legendary. Many 2000s songs really sound like their own thing and a product of their time. A PRIME product, that still sticks out with many great songs This is one of them. And on top of that, it has a tie in with ECW. You gotta love that.
