Quick explanation: Taehyun (the blonde member in Sentimental) left the group in 2016 due to mental health issues. He later stated that he was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and felt like idol life was too restrictive for him. He has since started his own band called South Club, which I love dearly and continues to produce music, albeit sadly not as successfully. He wrote a lot of their earlier songs (as did Yoon and Mino). The guy with the cat and nice rap flow is Seunghoon or as his stage name "Hoony". The one with the pretty ballad like voice is Jinu (my bias and a gorgeous human being who is infinitely bad with directions). Every time I see people react to WINNER, they always say how WINNER has such pretty/aesthetic pleasing MVs. Also, how they have so much fun listening and watching WINNER. The whole group vibe is so chill, fun, and good vibes. Of course WINNER is currently known for their upbeat, feel good, and fun music, but they can also do emotionally beautiful songs like “FOOL”, “ SOSO”, and “REMEMBER”. If you want comedy sitcom like video of WINNER being their dorky WINNER selves portraying annoying older brothers to Lee Suhyun of “AKMU.. you should definitely watch and react to “HOLD” MV. OMG that MV had me smiling and laughing my butt off. This pre-release single/MV dropped in March.. at the start of COVID and honestly it made A LOT of people smile at that time. So I’m really glad that you really enjoyed WINNER and has gotten so interested in them after these 3 MVs. There’s so much more to dive into tbh and they’re very unique and versatile. They don’t like doing the “norm” and explore other music genres/styles. To some listeners it can be “hit” or “miss”, but they take their chances anyways because they always want to challenge themselves. They’re pure music lovers and get inspired by all music. BUT they also go back to their roots or OLD WINNER sometimes in their b-sides and it’s just as enjoyable...a blessing to your ears or makes you want to dance.

Here’s info about WINNER: They’re from YG entertainment and before they debuted they participated in a YG survival show called, YG WIN: WHO IS NEXT. It was show that put two of YG’s best trainees split it two groups, Team A (WINNER) and Team B (IKON). Obviously, Team A became WINNER and they debuted in August 17, 2014. There were originally 5 members, but the very talented, gorgeous main vocalist, 1/4 of composer line, and the original maknae of WINNER.. Nam Taehyun was going through some mental issues and was granted a hiatus in 2016 by YG. However, after a few months Taehyun felt that he needed to take care of his well-being first and thought he was being a burden to WINNER. So he thought it would be best for him to leave YG and WINNER. He also wanted to pursue/compose music in a differently and felt his music path was going a different route than WINNER at that time. Also, the pressure of idol life really takes a toll on him and his mental issues. He started his own band SOUTH CLUB and for a while started his own record company/label, but recently stepped down from his CEO/president position. He wanted to focus more on music and his band has released a lot of music, so check him out! ☺️ After Taehyun left, there was A LOT of uncertainty about WINNER’s future as a group. Can they survive or even have the same lure as they did when they had Taehyun. There were rumors of them disbanding as well as YG possibly adding a new member to WINNER. But thankfully the 4 members decided to carry on as 4. They wanted to continue to do music together and as well as they want to be strong and stay together for the fans that have been with them since day 1 (I’m one of them). So they worked hard for the rest of 2016, regrouped, found their style/color as 4 member group, and came back STRONG with “REALLY REALLY” and “FOOL”. One thing that is very unique charming about WINNER is that you can tell how much fun they’re having on that stage. They’re so chill, fun, playful, and confident. They make you want to dance and have fun too. From their dance/performance MVs to live stages.. their energy and vibe on that stage is just ONE BIG ASS PARTY.. unless they make you cry with their emotional songs. Members by age: Kim Jinwoo aka JINU: - Eldest (91-liner and currently serving in the military. He will be back in Jan 2022) - Super Smooth and Pretty Vocals cuz DUHH he’s lead vocalist for a reason. (Can you imagine that he lack confidence about his vocals and had low self-esteem back then? INSANE RIGHT?) - ETHEREAL VISUAL (he’s a damn vampire!) - has this aura about him that makes you want to protect him. He has this pureness/naive personality, BUT... he can be SAVAGE in the funniest and unexpected moments. - ACTOR has done web dramas, but honestly should have gotten more acting gigs. He’s really good!! - low key awesome rapper.. his fast rap is insane haha! - had his solo debut last year with the song “Call Anytime” ft. MINO. - BIAS WRECKER Lee Seung Hoon aka HOONY: - 92- liner and currently serving in the military, he will also come back in Jan 2022. - was discovered on KPOPSTAR season 1 back in 2012 and placed Top 4. He wasn’t the best singer or rapper, BUT he was THE PERFORMER or as YG, JYP, and BOA said.. he’s AN ARTIST. The story he tells in his performances by movement/dancing is INCREDIBLE. - lead rapper with witty af lyrics and unique flow. - lovely soft vocals - main dancer (hmm I have a feeling he will be your bias 😂) - main choreographer (has choreographed or co-choreographed some of WINNER’s choreography) - coolest composer/lyricist (his songs are so fun and uplifting tbh) - witty and funny personality (the dumb to Mino’s dumber.. that duo.. comedic gold) - ALWAYS SAVAGE - President of INNER CIRCLES (WINNER fandom name) - BOYFRIEND FASHION (his fashion is really SO BOYFRIEND) - WINNER’s IDEA BANK (always have interesting or fun ideas or concepts). - BIAS WRECKER Song Minho aka MINO: - 93-liner (might have to enlist next year 😕) - was an underground rapper first before auditioning to being an idol. He originally was supposed to debut in ZICO’s group BLOCK B. But didn’t end up signing the contract and it was a good thing he didn’t sign it. He then debut in a ballad/hip hop group called BOM in 2012/2013 and they weren’t doing well and disbanded. Auditioning for YG and getting in was his last chance and he literally was the last trainee to be join Team A.. a little over a few months before the WIN: WHO IS NEXT survival show started. - HE CAN SING.. when he had to be serious.. other times he likes to be silly and go off key. - the charismatic and eccentric main rapper of WINNER. - experimental composer and KING OF WORD PLAY. This guy... even if you’re Korean.. you still have a hard time to decipher/translate his metaphors or meaning of his songs. - VARIETY SHOW STAR (he looks fierce and charismatic on stage and MVs, but the softest, clumsy, and funny bub off stage. He’s on NEW JOURNEY TO THE WEST and has done a bunch of solo variety show appearances) - UNIQUE/TRENDY FASHIONISTA (sometimes I don’t get his fashion. He also had 2 successful fashion line collaboration with YOON with a fashion brand called, PLAC.) - FASHION MODEL ( Hand picked by LV to strut his stuff at fashion week in Paris last year.) - AN ARTIST (drawing, making clothes, and painting. Recently his paintings are on display at the SAATCH GALLERY IN LONDON). - SONG CEO (owns a cafe called Osechill, that his mom runs/manages) - the Dumber to HOONY’s Dumb.😂 MINO solo songs/MVs: “I’M HIM”, “BODY”, “FIANCÉ”, and “RUNAWAY”. Kang Seung Yoon aka YOON: - 94- liner (might enlist next year or in 2022) - was discovered when he was 16/17 years old in SUPERSTARK season 2 in 2010. He was the tall and lanky boy with the baritone husky vocals carrying his guitar everywhere with him. He actually was criticized A LOT in the competition and some ppl didn’t think he will last long in the show. But he placed in top 4 and had the most popular and well known performance on the show. He did his own version/cover of a song called, “INSTINCTIVELY”. It was released to the public because of course all songs that was performed on that show becomes released officially to the public. “INSTICTIVELY” blew up on the music charts and honestly YOON became the new young IT boy at that time. He became rookie of the year the GAON MUSIC AWARDS with no representation or being signed to a company. However, YG found a way to have Yoon sign with him and honestly even though I’m weary about YG. I’m happy Yoon took the challenge and basically became such an all around and versatile artist. - LEADER AND MAKNAE OF WINNER.. YEP.. YOU READ RIGHT. LEADER MAKNAE. - the MAIN COMPOSER of WINNER (REALLY REALLY, FOOL, LOVE ME LOVE ME, ISLAND, EVERYDAY, MILLIONS, AH YEAH, SOSO, and many more with b-sides tracks. - versatile songwriter and constantly surprising us with his self-composed songs. - KING OF VOCALS.. no really he is! HE WAS KING OF KING OF MASKED SINGERS 6 TIMES!! 1ST YG ARTIST TO BECOME KING YOUNGEST KING ON KOMS tied in 2nd with most wins for male idols. (6 wins) tied for 3rd with most wins in KOMS history (6 wins). YOU HAVE TO WATCH HIS PERFORMANCES! BLESSING TO YOUR EARS! - already debuted as a solo artist and SUPPOSED to release a mini album as per promise by YG in 2013. BUT Team A became WINNER and of course WINNER became his priority and he put his own solo career in the back burner. Until now.. no update on his solo comeback and 1st solo album. 😑 - A LEGIT ACTOR! Support role or side character in a Korean sitcom High Kick in 2011. Has been lead role in 2 web dramas Support role in TV drama PRISON PLAYBOOK Currently in TV drama called, KAIROS where he’s supposed to be a supporting role, but he seems like part of the main cast. 👍 - TRENDY FASHIONISTA (sometimes he has good fashion, other times questionable too. Has a fashion line with Mino) - AWESOME AND ELOQUENT RADIO DJ AND MC. He’s always hosting WINNER’s vlives and has become temporary DJ to various radio shows. - Yoon is currently a host along side legendary Korean musician and songwriter Kim Taewon in the KZbin show, “KPOP LYRICS HELPER”. They’re currently on their 2nd season and it’s about old Gen song writers (taewon) and new Gen song writers (Yoon) analyzing, interpreting, and giving wise words of advice about KPOP songs in this new generation. It’s such an informative show and helps global fans to understand the message of some popular kpop songs. - he can be a BOSS, but also can be teased so much by his members cuz he’s also maknae. 😂 - A GIVING TREE (has been giving back to his community/foundations/charities/causes ever since he was 16/17 years old. Sponsors 3 kids in Africa ever since pre-debut, paid off all his mom’s debt when he earned money in pre-debut. Even until he finds causes to chip in and spread awareness on his social media.) Honestly all of WINNER are GIVING TREES. As you can tell, WINNER are known and loved because of their friendly and kind personalities. We love genuine and respectful men. I can go on and on about the causes they support or the way they support LGTBQ/BLM/women rights/equality and etc. They’re wonderful guys and truly deserves so much better, but they did the best they could with what they got. I’m damn proud of them and they always come back stronger and better than ever. We have to wait until 2024 or 2025 for OT4, but they’re totally worth it. 👍👍👍👍☺️☺️☺️😩😩😩

Fun fact: Winner just can't disappoint with their music. Even their b-sides on albums are terrific. Hard to believe there was a point wher people thought they might not even debut. Even after they won WIN, there was a pretty significant amount of time before they actually 'debuted'. I'm talking like basically radio silence about their debut for almost an entire year, they were used as opening acts for Big Bang and 2NE1 during their concerts( I assume to build a bigger fanbase since quite a few people didn't like that they won WIN). Then finally once they did officially debut, they didn't release anything else for 18 months I believe. Alot of fan worried that YG was just trying to run down the time on their contracts because they generally couldn't fit winner into the typical"YG Entertainment mold" at the time. But someone finally woke up and realized the talent they were sleeping on and they've been more active ever since. The group is on a hiatus now since the older members are doing their military service and Yoon and Mino are doing more solo activities( waiting for a solo comeback for Seungyoon more than anything though) But in general check out more from them because if Istart writing anymore this just might become an essay.
