I like those white wheels - haven't seen them before. Assuming the 'stick' is hand-held (as opposed to being mounted), the stabilization is amazing.

That actually worked incredibly well! Superior viewing compared to a chest-high video! Wish a non-held high camera could be rigidly mounted with integrated handgrip twist and vertical articulation from same hand grip. Would be something fun to make, lol, but seemingly(?) ought to be already available.

Awesome video. I have insta 360 on the standard length. I also mount a skeleton mount behind my head head. I am finding the more that a user extends. It’s heavy . My Ace Pro of the Insta models is just as heavy. I have been using my action cameras a necklace mount. I traveled this way using my action camecameras in 🇵🇪. An interesting POV. You got thinking on the stick height since the trails shares with the horses which a scary POV on 3 wheels . Thanks guys!

Oh, yeah! Horses are freaked by trikes already. Add a long pole and you're really in trouble. I don't think I would've ridden past a horse with this pole extended. Those insta 360's are really nice!

Great video and very ingenious method of videography. Btw…. I just emailed pix of the penny farthing rider I encountered on Cape Cod. It took me a while to find it. Also sent two short videos and a few pix of two Velo riders I joined up with in south Florida.

Hope to see you out there one day! There is a hotel in Folsom, right on the trail, so if you ever wanted to make a multi-day trip of it, you would be able to stay next to the trail and go one way one day and the other the next. :)

The In &Out is a few miles off the trail in Gold River. There is a McDonalds right off the trail and a few supermarkets, so plenty of places to stop and eat. :)@@Olyphoto7

You have definitely achieved your goal with this setup! Congrats gentlemen. With this setup, why spend money on a miniature helicopter holding the camera? Hopefully that stick isn't too heavy, but I bet it could be mounted on the trike to alleviate holding it continually. With two trike riders, this effect is awesome because you can vary the angles, front, rear, and side. With a single rider though, the options would be significantly limited compared to what you show here. steve

Hey, Steve! Yep, you're right- This kind of thing is only really going to work well with a second rider holding the stick/camera, so I guess the drone companies won't be going out of business any time soon. :) Keep on pedaling!

Interesting, for that effect - I like it, but you definitely need a partner to be a subject. A different effect may be achieved with a camera/software that makes the selfie-stick invisible.

What’s your typical camera setup? Would love to see a video showing where you like mounting on your trikes/bikes.

The only time we mount a camera is on a road bike handlebar on a long downhill. Most of the time, we just hand hold it, so it can be moved around to get some interesting shots. The camera we're using for this video is the first generation DJI OSMO action. The image quality is great, but we do have problems with the audio sometimes (weird clicks).

It's a beautiful video and I'm very jealous of your ride - but I have to wonder why you don't just use an actual drone? They WILL follow and circle around you, and your arm won't get tired, either. You only need about 12 minutes of actual footage for the final video, so a drone with a couple of batteries would be more than sufficient to capture plenty of footage, and no need to hold anything while riding.

Hey, John! We'll probably pick up a drone in the near future but so far it's been something we haven't messed with. I'm thinking now that this "long stick" type shot would be a nice addition when a drone wouldn't be possible as when riding through the trees and such. But you're certainly correct- A drone would sure save wear and tear on my arm! Thanks for watching!

Hey Glen! The big problem we had was the long shadow from the pole was in getting in many of the shots and ruining the effect. :)
