I've got a few in mind. Some longer ones and a bit a shorter one that I've been meaning to do for a long long time.

FINALLY! I can enjoy my morning coffee with an Island ADV video at the office before anyone else shows up again. 😂Good to see you back. My brother uses Rotella because his KLR loses a bit of oil and it seems to be the cheapest way to keep topping it off. Life has been getting in the way of my videos as well........ I have 10 more days from last year (including our ride together) that I'll get to eventually. But as you say, I want to be able to finish them my way instead of just slapping them together. My bikes all get a full tank and Stabil before putting them away for the winter but they're all fuel injected. Here's to a great season. Cheers!

So glad to be a part of a time honored tradition, lol. This was the first carb issue I've had to troubleshoot too. It was totally just something that got mixed up in the jetting given that some seafoam and rev bomb was the fix. I cleaned that carb real good too this winter so something in the lines for sure. Hope you're having a great season so far brother.

Awesome. Welcome back man. I’ve had my klr650 a couple times. Definitely needs a bath and some small maintenance done.

Thanks man. Feels great to be back on the bike. Already had some great rides this season too. We got the whole PEI dual sport crew out for a rip down east for our annual shakeout ride. Those will be some fun videos later this month. Cheers.

Release the hounds...sorry...fox. Nice work on trouble shooting...knew you would like the upgrades. Only thing left for me is a rear tire. Got the ability for a tablet and / or GPS with quad lock vibration mounts. The 805 is B/O hopefully in this week. Will be over this year for sure. Garth

Excellent! I've got a route all lined up for your visit brother. When the time comes be sure to shoot me a message and we'll link up for a rip up the coast.

Yeah buddy!! Welcome back, it’s good to see you on Foxy, tinkering and happy with your winter mods. I also have the same first run route, easy start, find a local lighthouse to chill and have a coffee, play and practice in a nearby parking lot, then rip it on the Hwy back. It always feels good, and has that sweet ‘heck yeah’ feeling. Cheers man, nice work troubleshooting, hope to see you out there this year!

Thanks, buddy. I was actually a bit excited to troubleshoot the problem. I like solving little mysteries like that, lol. I was just really lucky to be able to limp the bike home. That process took about half an hour on its own.

Great to see you back! When ever I have some sort of issue I look at improvement in the repair. When doing my carb clean / rebuild I went with a carb correction kit from Mega City Performance . Money well spent! Crisp and smooth throttle response
@IslandADV

That's interesting. I might look into doing the same. Luckily, this was a relatively easy fix. But I'm glad I was able to catch the whole process on video.

the all balls kit i bought for the dr200 said "off road" on the package. must be something in the new needle because it has noticeably better throttle response and power now. best $12 performance mod yet! sure seemed like your new suspension was a success.

Yes the suspension is fantastic. I'm going to take it out on some trails tomorrow and put it, and me, through some trickier stuff. Looking forward to it.

Thanks. Feels good begin able to have some time to post stuff again. Got a few more videos in the pipe too. After 3 years I think I finally figured out the secret to get my skid plate on though. It's certainly not a pain like it was. But I take it off every year and inspect the engine casing for damage just to be safe. Cheers!

Really enjoyed your video. I bought my first motorcycle this year. I want something that wouldn’t leave you behind when taking off from a stop. I am too old to be playing Evel Knievel and wouldn’t break the bank. I picked the 2024 Kawasaki KLR 650 Adventure ABS. The more I ride the more I am enjoying the bike. Still have a lot of learning and confidence to build, but getting there.

Congrats on the new bike! The KLR is so fun eh. It doesn't pretend to be anything except what it is and what it is certainly enough to add a few smiles to your ride.

Guess everyone has a fuel/carb story. Here's mine: 07 KLR. Carb was clean with float set perfect. Flooded with fuel coming out vent hose. Found tiny piece of black plastic holding float valve open. Put clear filter inline. Died fuel starved with tiny particles in filter and no good flow from tank. Drained tank. Found petcock filter screen off and in tank bottom. Petcock also felt stiff when turning it. Replaced petcock. Removed inline filter. All good now.

Now that's how you troubleshoot a problem. Great work figuring all that out. I often worry about a petcock failure like that, good to have reference like this for symptoms. Thanks for sharing that!

I hate ohms law. Second. Get you some carb cleaner, disconnect the fuel line from the tank, drain the bowl of the carb. Close the drain on the carb. Spray the carb cleaner in the fuel line going to the carb. Reconnect everything back up and start the engine. Most people just spray it in the intake which doesn’t do anything for the float and jets. Spray in the fuel line runs it completely through the carb.

That's good idea. Saves the hassle of pulling the whole thing out. Although I've gotten pretty good at doing that now. I bought some new tools that help get into the tighter spaces and it makes it so much easier. I actually think in the future someday it would be fun to do a carb tear down and rebuild as a live stream. I had an instructor once reference Ohm's law in a funny way: "Once you get the money, then you get the power. And I'm talkin REAL I squared R shit". LOL. He was one of my fav instructors in Tech School.

Please, tell me about your pannier boxes and mounting racks? I have a 2023 KLR 650.
@IslandADV
@IslandADV 9 ай бұрын
Certainly. The racks are tusk pannier racks. I got these from Rocky Mountain atv. The boxes are from Princess Auto (Canadian Harbour Freight). The racks include brackets and hardware to mount this kind of thing, so it comes together pretty easily. They are rock solid, too. They've seen a hit or two, that's for sure. Cheers.
