Here is my very first ride on the Triumph Thruxton 900! Does it make a good beginner rider bike? Watch to find out!
Welcome to my channel! I'm a mother of six and beginner motorcycle rider. The purpose of this channel is to document my journey learning to safely ride a motorcycle. I'll bring you a first hand perspective of what it's like learning to ride - all the fears, challenges, close calls, and exciting milestones! And because my husband is constantly trying out different bikes, I'll also do test rides, reviews, and share my opinions on all the bikes he brings through the garage.

I would say a Basic Rider Course that's MSF certified would be a good idea, You'll have fun , build confidence and learn a lot of valuable street survival skills which will also get you your M endorsement on your licence.

@@JackiesMotoGarage Good move not going down the curb. Get used to it first. On bikes like that you will need to learn not to lean on your hands. It takes a while but your body core should keep the weight on your hands neutral. Time for that later, basics first!

Hi Jackie! New sub and new rider here! Congrats on the new bike, it really is beautiful. I own a 2018 Vulcan S and i really love that bike but I was also checking out a Triumph Street Twin as a second bike. I have to get really comfortable on the Vulcan first, because with a 28 inch inseam I am not flat footed on the Triumph and having confidence makes all the difference. Looking forward to follow you on your journey. Keep up the good work and stay safe!

Thank you for sharing and keep it up. You'll have it down packed in no time. When I first started riding, it was on a Honda moped then I moved up to a Honda Rebel 250 then the scariest bike at that point to me was the Gixxer 750. But boy did I have fun learning and riding. Of course now it's been about 16 years since I last got on a bike and I am ready to get back on the saddle again, as it were. The Triumph is a beautiful bike but for some it wouldn't be considered a good starter bike. But I've seen people start on a Hayabusa and depending on how you feel about it, you'll do great no matter what bike you start on. Thank you again for sharing and keep up the great work.

After my first year of riding last year I started branching out and going to some demo days to ride different bikes. At first I was so nervous riding bikes with more power because I didn’t know what to expect from the throttle, down shifting, engine breaking etc. but then it clicked that I am in Control of the throttle and how fast I go. Once you take a breath and rely on technique it makes life easier!

I’ve always called it “swallowing fear”. You’re doing great 👍 steps forward Knowing your limitations, try to relax, take your time, at your pace. Anybody critical needs to jump off the mike. I didn’t go slow on my first bike and broke bones as I learned. The broken bones remind me now that I’m older to go easy at first in any new bike. Right now, I’m in between bikes, healing from serious injury (non-motorcycle related). The next bike will start the adventure all over again as I ride towards AARP ✌️

The problem with that Thruxton for u is the handle bars. Who ever had it before you has turned handlebars upside down make a bit like early ones with clipons. Up the correct way would make a huge difference to your reach and be much more upright riding position. That's why they stopped making them with clipons for a more comfortable ride for Joe Bloggs.

You cannot use your feet as learner wheels. Its a two wheel vehicle that needs a certain velocity to keep it upright. Maybe you need a mid size cruiser, not a sports bike with clip on bars. My wife found it easier to ride a low seat Harley than our Triumph Sprint or Zx14R. Also going real slow is harder.
