I have this same bike, absolutely love it! At 5'7", about 155 pounds, I find it nothing but comfortable and super smooth to ride. A motorcycle work of art, IMHO. Thanks for the review!

Triumph is doing the retro thing with this machine, it looks great but I wish that they had used the clocks from the T120. That would really fit the bike better.

Nice review. I have a 2022 SM. Triumph has done a great job with this bike. The touring seat is fantastic. One of the few stock seats I can make a 4 hour trip and not have to get off the bike. The smooth rumble of the exhaust is perfect. Please of power and just a joy to ride.

I found the cornering ground clearance very limited on the speedmaster when i test rode one, but the bobber was much better and as i dont carry a pillion i bought a bobber, it's a second bike so fuel range isn't a real issue either. I actually prefered the looks of the speedmaster, but the ergos just did'nt suit me unfortunately, still i'm very happy with the bobber.
@jonno942 жыл бұрын
Also, as you were discussing bike ride heights being the same on both the bobber and speedmaster, the main difference was the length of the hero pegs (the parts bolted to base of footpeg that scrape). The bobber ones are at least half the length of the speedmaster ones, which obviously make a difference on lean angles, but i am uncertain as to why they are different on both bikes?
@MOTOUK12 жыл бұрын
Yes sounds about right, only thing I notice on speed is that with the pegs forward when you brake into a corner the front end dips making the forward pegs lower still under braking.

I agree with you about an usual preference for straight bars, in fact I put a pair of Renthal straights onto my own SV Thou, but think a person's torso would be bent uncomfortably with flats and these forward mounted footrests. A couple of things I would change about this bike though, are non plastic tank badges and wonder why hardly any manufacturers use hydraulic valve lifters on low revvers like this engine. The only maintenance then would be fluids, chain adjustment and occasional brake pad changes. Frankly, I haven't got the brains to remove cams, change shims and replace it all, without mistiming things and trashing my valves etc.
@MOTOUK12 жыл бұрын
Hear you Michael re flat bars and forward pegs, the bobber was a much natural position comfier. Non hydraulic lifters are on many machines and agree again would be nice so don’t have to go through huge expense at the time to re shim check etc 👌

Nice solid review. I've got a black and white Speedy and have changed things round quite a bit, the best mod by far IMHO is the Triumph Floorboards. They weren't cheap but what a difference they make. I lived up in Carnforth for 4 years so know that area around Milnthorpe, Storth and Arnside well. Great roads: my favorite was Carnforth to Kirby Lonsdale via the Red Well Inn back road. I wouldn't pay £800 for the gold pinstripes etc but thanks for posting looking forward to your next comments.

The dynamics of the bike change when you are 5'6" to 5'7". Built for 5.4 to 5.7 riders This will be replacing the last Cruiser we had. It's perfect. They hit the nail right on the head with this model. Two up is the only way to go.

First and foremost always remove those scrape spikes on the foot pegs . They reduce you leaning ability and they are just dangerous.

This is a very good bike IF...you put the Bobber handlebar, recede the footpegs in the normal position,totally changes how it handles...with advanced footpegs and that handlebar handling is ridicolous.

If you were able to mount doodads between the handlebar clamps, it looks to me like your doodad would end up blocking the view of much of the information on the very compact dashboard. 🤔

@@MOTOUK1 Wasn't aware the bobber had different suspension? You sure it's not just feeling different from having your feet under you and being able to put more spring in your legs? I certainly have managed to bottom out the front suspension, but it takes a big pothole. The rear seems fine to me. Personally, I find the feet forward (but not as far as most other cruisers) very comfortable, and it compliments the swept back bars and seat perfectly, giving a relaxed, but quite upright riding position. I appreciate it isn't for everyone, but if you fancy the cruiser position, but don't like being doubled over like a clam like some have you, the SM is perfect. The Bobber is definitely setup more sporty - I think the engine is mapped differently even? - but lots less comfortable for anything more than an hour, is what I've heard... Having had my SM for 6 months or so now, I must try out the Bobber, just for comparison. Only out of interest, though, as an old knee injury means the SM forward pegs are perfect for me. That thin seat looks like an arse-killer, though!

Hi I am seriously considering on of these but that foot peg scrape has me worried. You didn’t look to leaned over. Watched it back a couple of times and just couldn’t see why. Den
@MOTOUK12 жыл бұрын
Hi Denis, to be honest it only touched once in the 2 weeks I had the bike. Reason was I was braking heavy on the corner dipping the front end which in turn makes the forward footrests lower, had I no been braking heavy it would not have touched down.

Stunner! But is it twice the bike of the Interceptor? (As its double the price). Certainly the engine sounds like a peach. Not sure I like the foot position or handlebars.
@MOTOUK12 жыл бұрын
For me I prefer the bobber, Triumph do trump the RE on quality and finish tbh. So yes the extra is worth it but for a good price the RE is a winner too, becoming very popular. I’m just deciding which I should buy! Will probably be a triumph but choosing which one is hard as all good bikes 😂
