To me the Roscoe is a tribute to the detective revolvers of the 30s and after. Changing the grips changes the personality. 😢
@Paul_Whaley4 ай бұрын
Well, something like a Tyler-T grip adapter would achieve a similar thing to tossing larger grips on the gun. Without a way to make the trigger reach better, it's not gonna be a fun gun to shoot. They didn't really shoot DA/SA revolvers in double action much in the 1930s, hence why those crappy tiny grips stayed in vogue for a long while. It's not the 1930s anymore, and DA shooting is much more practical and enjoyable.

@@Paul_Whaley That’s fine but for me I would pick one up for the cool tribute factor and not change it. 😁👍🇺🇸

@@Paul_WhaleyI don't know, in all those old gangster movies they seem to be blasting away in DA most of the time!

Heritage is going to sell loads of these. Haha. Like you said, just a renamed Taurus 85 that is a great snub nose. Already have a Taurus 856 +P Defender three inch that I like a lot and its a six shot. Because of the three inch barrel and longer ejector rod I have no problems with ejecting cases and it gives me a little more velocity and longer sight radius. Still a snub nose being under four inches. I do like the Pachmayr grips but I will stick with my rubber Hogue Monogrips. I just wish they covered the back strap but its not that big of a deal. Thanks for sharing.

I've just picked up one of the 856 TORO guns to test for the channel/site, looking forward to that. The Roscoe is pretty well made, and I've shot mine a lot more since uploading this video last month. On the topic of the grips, I've just preferred something that is less grabby than a lot of the Hogue offerings. I'm not opposed to rubber, it's just that a lot of it is too grippy on clothes, making them a pain to carry/draw from concealment. I've got my written "first impressions" article for the gun going up on our website at the start of next week. I'll be sure to link it/drop the link in a pinned comment once it is up on Tuesday. Thanks for commenting!

I enjoy a good snubby. The 85 was a great gun. I loved the deep blued models. Looks like I have a chance to get one in the Heritage Roscoe.

Thanks for the great review. It would make a nice companion to carry on a hike in the boondocks. If you came under attack from a pack of dogs, it would easily dispatch them.

I bought the same setup when they first came out. The factory stocks are terrible, and make it impossible to get the round closest to frame out. The Pachmayrs are much better all around. 👍👍👍👍

Gym bro carry! I love snubbies! Can't shoot them all that accurately but that might be because of the small grip. She seems smooth Paul! It's pretty accurate!

Thanks Johan! Like I said in the video, I try to get out and shoot in my gym clothes a few times a year. Snuibbies are what I'm carrying pretty often while at the gym, so testing out a new one is fun.

Do you think kydex j frame holsters will work with the Roscoe!
@Paul_Whaley2 ай бұрын
Generally speaking, it depends. The gun is larger than a J-frame, so it really is dependent on the specific holster. I made it work with my JM Custom Kydex holster, but I cannot guarantee other ones to work. Generally speaking, holsters made for the Taurus model 85 will work, as the Roscoe is an updated Model 85. Thanks for commenting Jim!

Are the replacement grips for a j frame or model 85?
@Paul_Whaley5 ай бұрын
They are Pachmyrs for the 85/856 series. J-Frame grips do not have the same frame pin cutouts to work on the 85/Roscoe.

@@Paul_Whaleythat’s good to know, thanks! The stock grip panels look vintage cool, but that’s about all they’re good for, I’m sure. 😅 I asked Taurus customer service if there were any aftermarket panels that would fit, but they were clueless and couldn’t give me a definitive answer. That was disappointing.
