Loved how you noticed that the song has Indian vibes, the round musical instrument which shown in the video which is being played with hands, in Indian culture it is used a lot ( it's called Tabla, a classical instrument). And yes, Rihanna was offered this song first but she rejected it saying that it won't be a hit. Then Hollywood music told Selena to do it, you are correct mam Selena didn't wanna do this song it doesn't pertain with her anymore.

For years and years Selena had Lupus( a disease which attacks your own immune system) due to which she always had panic attacks and felt very weak. Selena said, there was a time when she couldn't open a bottle's cap with her hands cause her whole body used to be in pain so much. Lupus affected her whole body, and the BS started that she can't sing. She got a kidney transplant too. I agree she ain't a powerhouse vocalist, but she has a very beautiful, calming tone in her voice and SHE CAN SING !
