so, This is the first of your vids i've watched and i loved it, being relatively new to sea angling I learnt more in the last half hour about how to approach the whole thing than i have in countless hours trolling you tube in the last few months. Also really like the presentation of you film,informative,clear and entertaining You have definately got a new subscriber today so please keep up the good work.

Hi very enjoyable and very informative, although I live in Lincoln I do get fish down your way a couple of times a year, and have popped into the shop where you explained your small bait approach, I've always used larger 3/0 and double sandeel, now watching this and your other vid I'll try it for thornback on the east coast many thanks, looking forward to seeing more 👍

A very enjoyable watch. What are the best tides for between Boscombe pier and Hengisbury. I would like to let my son know because last time he got seriously weeded out. Probably wrong tide.
@christchurchanglingcentre54282 жыл бұрын
There is no weed at the moment so don't worry too much about that. My favourite bit of tide is from dead low for a couple of hours. Later on in the year when the weed is about avoid the really rough conditions and after a big blow.

Hi Tom great video. When you say on the distance rod is it a case there of maximum distance you can reach or do you know a rough area for a sand bar at a certain distance
@christchurchanglingcentre54282 жыл бұрын
There is a sandbar along most of Southbourne, it varies from as little as 80 yards to almost double that. When I say distance I usually mean clearing the bar. Everything I do is either in the gulley infront of the bar, or over the top of it.

Tom you had a cracking session 👏! Tom please keep where your marks you fishing to your self !! Yes it's great for us rod and line fisherman! But the truth is commercial fisherman follow these channels aswell ! I bet the lads from Poole have been up and down there all day trawling, or long lines ! If they caught your video! Last year you kept that Bass session off Christchurch ledge off for a few weeks to stop the commercial fisherman wiping the stocks out . Absolutely love your videos and seeing what you catch .. but sadly could you be a bit more vague on where your catching ! Just tell those that come into Christchurch Angling where and what to do ?
@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Жыл бұрын
I understand your concerns mate, I do hear it in the shop from time to time but that's not so much a "truth" as an old wives tale born out of paranoia! Commercial anglers know their trade far better than we do, and the thought of one of two individual fish being caught wouldn't raise any interest for them. I have quite a few of these guys who shop with me and they really aren't that interested in what we catch. Keeping marks and tactics to myself very much goes against my ethos I'm afraid. I love the thought of helping others catch fish and enjoy our sport, I believe the fishing community is a better place when we all work together and help each other. Sorry if that's not the answer you wanted!

i know all sea anglers do not have the same ideas about fishing, and here are a few where i differ from yours, the norfolk and suffolk beaches even if you have your rods as high as possible you will still have walkers walk straight into your line and get it in the face or round their necks, not to happy either way, you point your rods depending on the wind and tide, sometimes changing it as the tide change, more so if weeds about, what ever did we do before elastic and circle hooks, you need neither for sand eel, wrap the top hook round the hook snood a couple of times to lock it then hook in the top of the eel and thats locked, plus you are not killing things that gets loads of elastic down its guts, if you had a coleman petrol light you could have a nice warm shelter and loads of light, in the old days on the norfolk coast after the whiting had gone if we didnt get a cod, we got nothing, i had a cod on lug an hour after i cast it out, it got so bad we went from a 100 lug each week to 50, but as the other fish started to hang around we started using more fish, quid and eel bait as it was much cheaper, will be looking out for your next video, hope its just as good

One of the many wonderful things about fishing is we all do things differently. It's always great to see or hear how others do it.

Just found your channel and I must say I find the videos really interesting. Couple of questions if you don’t mind. I’ve tried the bar rig but seem to get tangled, Is there something obvious I could be doing wrong? Secondly on your flapper rig, what stops the bait sliding up the line or down the hook? I prefer the way you baited the just intrigued.
@christchurchanglingcentre54282 жыл бұрын
Hi Ross, glad you like the videos so far :-) Your bar rig shouldn't tangle, so perhaps look at the snood line, could it be too thin? I generally use 0.50 for rays, hounds etc and 0.40 for plaice and the likes. If you find this still tangles maybe look at the length, trimming it back a few inches may help. The rougher the sea the shorter I'd fish too. On the flapper rig the bait will never move up the snood away from the hook as the hooks trail behind the snood on the cast, this is the other way around on clipped rigs hence why I always use bait stops on my clipped rigs.

Your videos make me sit up and listen Tom. Slap myself around the face to get off the sofa, get out there and keep it simple. One thing I'm always afraid of on flapper rigs is having the snood too long and it wrapping up. Yours are 3 foot!? They don't tangle?
@christchurchanglingcentre54282 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words, really appreciate that. As long as your snood length isn't longer than the gap between each snood then you'll be fine.
