Here in the Netherlands i noticed the first signs of robbing too, the big linden nectar flow is over and the heather ain't blooming yet. Glad you got your nectar flow back 😊

That blue sky looks nice for a change. Nice here too. Nectar was flowing yesterday, I hope it does so for a while.

It ain't far from that, I started it today pulling old frame and replacing them with new. Bought a few boxes with old frames and they hated them. set them out and they jumped on them. Yup it's that dry time of the year.

Glad you finally got a reprieve from that smoke and some rain to boot... In a corny star wars reference The Emperor would say: "Let the nectar FLOW through you" 🍯

It's well under way here in eastern Kentucky. Only way I stopped it was open feeding. Like flipping a switch...as soon as they discover the syrup...they calm down and work it....which was what I needed while pulling honey. I don't know how a humongous operator like you could afford to open feed on a grand scale...but syrup is cheaper than honey....and...they will convert it....so not a total loss.
@ShannonD.9993 жыл бұрын
I can't speak on the economics, but I am sure greatful he chooses to video the open feeding every now and then. It truly is a spectacle to behold (pun intended). Especially those first spring feeds!

Happy things are perking up a little for you. That staggered planting on the canola is a stroke of luck, for you and the farmer I would imagine. Would have been a real kick in the pants if the farmer had all his eggs in one basket, so to speak.

It's a clearer board. The bees can pass out of the honey supers above it into the boxes below but they can't get back up again. He will come back later and pull the boxes above that board off and take them away for processing. There won't be many bees remaining in them.

Hey Ian , I’m curious about the conola honey . Since it crystallizes fast what does your buyer use the crystallized honey for ? As an sweetener for food products? I’m just learning about the uses for fast crystallizing honeys . Bee calm and I hope the drought doesn’t continue too much longer .
