You could easily make a wide rolling barn door to keep warmth inside, maybe make a doggie/goat door so they can get out. Insert a piece of polycarbonate plastic for the window, with a 4-6 twist clip to hold it in during winter, then you can remove in Spring/Summer.

I think a hinged window would be wise on the goat palace. That would help keep the wind off & great idea about paneling the sleeping area. Get yourself some kind of neck collar that you can pull over your face when you're not filming. Merry Christmas and stay warm! 🥶🥶🥶

You gotta get the snow off the roof so the walls don't collapse due to the weight of the snow (on the well house). Saw that that happen a few times on outbuildings when I lived in Buffalo, NY. Insurance won't cover it if the walls collapse. They cover the roof, not the walls.

Just saw a video today where a lady with goats had a similar hay feeder where she built a step up to make it easier for access. Her one goat put her horns through the wide part to access the hay, slipped off the step up and strangled and died because as the bars narrow toward the bottom, she couldn't free herself. She apparently did not get back on the step up in efforts to free herself. Owner found her just before she died. Just saying.

Merry Christmas Kyle and Shanon! I'm in Indiana and watching my neighbor's Chihuahua while she's visiting family in Texas. The first night of cold I got her all bundled up for a quick walk and as soon as I opened the door she stopped dead in her tracks and said, "Uh Uh!". I've been having to carry her out and hope she does her business on her beeline back to the door. But I can also see that the cold REALLY hurts her little paws so I don't push too hard.

I think you have more snow than all the other homestead farms- Grandpa, Adler, Arms Family, Walker Family, Hidden Heights. Glad y’all got the goat/dog shelter built…think it needs barn doors for this weather!

Thinking if u put a sliding barn door on the goat house could be very useful as weather patterns seem to be colder every year. And please don’t use goat coats. When they get damp they can cause pneumonia in animals. Same with dog beds. When they get damp it’s colder than straw or hay. Hope u all had a lovely day. Merry Christmas

Hidey, from Montana, snow is all melting today. I have been wearing shorts and a t-shirt all day. Our high was +40 so much better than the two weeks of negative temps. I love the snow and figure if it has to be so cold had to have some snow

We didn’t get much snow here in WV, just super cold. 0 degrees with wind chill of negative 25. Herc doesn’t mind the cold and snow. It was fun watching him and Nala playing. Merry Christmas to you both.

I used to put out cloth beds for the feral cats. Then there was an article on the news that said not to do that. It said to just use straw. The cloth will absorb moisture out of the air and actually make it colder for them.

My Rottweiler used to get in and push the straw up around the entrance, she had one little hole she could see out of. Dogs are so smart!

Wow you guys really got snow ❄️ we only had a dusting then turned rain then ice it skipped the return to snow. We did get down to 3 with the wind -20. Since we are a tiny bit warmer. Space heaters don't help much in this cold. Still 🙏 for a furnace repair. Just can't afford. Luigi has the greatest and cutest expressions. It's clear that both goats are doing well .

Guys, you need to take your hoses off your frost free water stands - otherwise it doesn’t do its job, the water can’t drain out of the very bottom and will freeze & then you could be in trouble. And perhaps you need a cricketers box to look after your tender parts!

We take them off all of them except the one attached to the camper. We’ve left a stream of water going non-stop and not had any issues. And it’s heat taped 😊

Indiana got blasted as well & I made sure my 3 guard dogs had plenty of straw & a full auto feeder of food to last through this weather & they did just fine but their also Australia Shepherds so they have plenty of thick fur on them + they don't like the cold so they stayed in their house's which is made of pallets, marry Xmas.

It is really good to see both of you Shannon and Kyle, it seems like I’m missing some of your videos and I don’t like that but I’m very impressed with the goat barn how it has turned out on the outside and the inside and it was nice to see the goats and the pin in Hercules in there with them! You clearly have made a happy home for all of them and I just want to say, “GREAT JOB, K & S”… Also thanks to grandpa for helping with the dog house and all of that that entails his new home. I know Hercules really appreciate it and that was evident by the way he moved the straw around and made himself a nest inside of there!! I’m with you Shannon in the snow is so beautiful and your land makes it even that much more beautiful, however I’m also with you Shannon in that I cannot stand called on my face and fingers and toes. Just a heads up...looking @ the inside & out of the goat house & seeing all that daylight underneath & between the boards...It will create a draft/freezing effect that will feel extra cold & even freeze water pipes faster...... also feeling warmer when on the inside (goats /water pipes etc)...You can staple card board or what ever to any-side of the pen/well house & it will be warmer...Draft control will sometimes make the difference of either a pipe freezing or anything feeling extra cold !!

It's not that often that we share the same snow storm. We had it pretty bad here in Buffalo, N.Y. The 23-27th, no power, heat or stove, no internet either so I have fallen behind in my You tube family. Power restored, fire from disgruntled Tennant, water pipes broken, inside flood.....Arctic baths....so refreshing! Lol! Welcome to Buffalo! 🤣🤩🤣 37.6°F in our apt. We were toasty! Lol

Upstate NY. We were down to 0° felt like - 18. I know how my lungs burn every winter when the temps are so low. I totally understand when you say that it hurts to breathe. I have been praying for the Adler KZbinrs. 🙏🙏🙏

You live in the snow belt of the area. I lived in Branson for 5 yrs in the late 60s. We got many 10", 12", and 18" snows. April 1st 1970 ( yes April Fools day it snowed over 24" in Branson, The same snowfall just over the state line in Kansas it was over 44 inches. Be prepared.
