Nothing amazing (unless you are me :) ). First solo XC, brought the GoPro along to review the flight later. Lots of fun, lots still to learn! If you are thinking of getting your license, do it! I haven't enjoyed anything as much as learning to fly :)

Remember to maintain back pressure after you land, in your touch and go that why it was shaking. Too much weight on the nose wheel otherwise :)

kevin obrien Thanks! Yeah, I usually remember to do that now (you can see me shimmy in my first videos too) but when I get a lot going on it slips my mind and I let the nose down, along with my signature "align self to left of centerline". Will keep practicing :)

tom Deacon I work hard, but that lets me have some very fun hobbies. I do consider myself lucky, and I like to share that fun with others (be it videos or the flight simulator).

Hi, Great Video you have. Can you please answer few questions of mine whenever you're free. I'd really appreciate it. 1. That mount you have, is that the permanent adhesive mount? Go Pro has a Removal Instrument mount as well. Any idea if those mounts will stick onto that surface a swell as I rent the aircraft and I'm not sure if the owner will be happy seeing a permanent mount there, but that mount gives the exact view that I"m looking for (knee pad, avionics and the front view) 2. The comment below mentioned you're shooting at 60 fps. Did that fps alone fixed the prop distortion, or are you using an nd filter as well. 3. I assume it's the wide angle shot you have. 4. I'm seeing a lot of videos online that say they're shooting at 1080p @ 30fps with an ND32 (1.5) filter. If that is enough to clear the prop lines, what would happen if you increase it to 60 fps? Because ND filter is slowing the shutter speed, but going to 60 fps will increase the shutter speed, will the 60 fps just cancel out the nd filter? I was really curious about this. I just want to do a lot of research and buy the right equipment for the recordings as I like to save every penny here and there to be able to rent the C172SP :)

Are you flying with Pavco? If so, opinions please?

I did my PPL with them, then went back for IFR. Working on my CPL with them right now. It is a good school. The instructors have been great, the owner (Mike) is a good guy, and the King curriculum they use works well. The airport is excellent to learn at, with tower - ATC so you get that experience, but not too busy. Learn to fly in that area and you'll do fine most anywhere else. The airplanes are OK, 3506T is the nicer of them. A few of the others are definitely getting on in their years :) They can get busier in the summertime (partnered with a school there) but if you are able to book your schedule more than a week in advance it won't cause much trouble. I've flown with a few other schools in the area, and Pavco is still my first choice (though Galvin at Boeing was cool just for being at Boeing field :) ).

Thanks for the information and fast reply. Just one more question if it's not too much trouble. Do you see a decent amount of people there going for higher ratings/certificates? I have my PP(SEL) and am looking to do Inst, Comm, Multi, CFI. Thanks again.

There have been quite a few instrument students there and a decent number of commercial. Multi as well, as they have an Aztec that I see around. Couldn't say about CFI, but at least one as I'm doing that next :) You can get thecommon endorsements there too (complex 172 RG, HP 182T). No tail wheel, so hit Spanaflight at KPLU up for that in their Citabria (a great way to break up the button pushing during your IR!). That is another good school, but I only did TW with them. Only complaint about KTIW is the fog seems to sit on it first, and leave it last. WIth low winter freezing levels it makes morning flights not possible. Any other time of the year, best place to fly out of :)
