Nice work! The first startup is always the most nerve-wracking. The coolant leak at that area of the thermostat housing is usually due to the fact that there are some shims that are missing on the threaded studs. The surface where the housing sits doesn't fully sit flush with other surfaces, so Mazda in their infinite wisdom used some shim spacers (very thin washers) on the threaded stud to make the surface flush. The bouncing idle is usually not from the idle air control valve but the TPS. The TPS are extremely finicky and if they are out just a little bit on adjustment the idle will bounce. Warm up the engine to operating temp and then you can adjust the TPS. Check the factory service manual on the procedure. Good luck!

Just found your channel today and binge watched the complete RX-7 series. Great stuff! But I'm curious about something. It looks like you did an EGR delete. Will that pass the TÜV/HU? I also have an RX-7 FC turbo 2. But I still can't get it to start/run properly because I'm scared of even the smallest modifications and the TÜV.

Thanks man, glad you enjoy it! :) The answer to your question would be: "It depends..." Doing a full emissions delete itself is totally fine for the TÜV. The Problem is the emissions test (AU)! In my case, removing the air pump had literally no impact on emissions for some reason so my FC passed the AU with flying colors :) But that doesn't mean this will be the case for every FC out there. It really depends on how you warm up the catalytic converter before the emissions test I think as this is usually the airpumps job. If it is nice and hot it tends to work better and therefore gives you a better chance of passing. Worst case though: You do a emissions delete, drive it nice and hot before the AU and commit tax fraud because you pay less taxes than you actually should for a car with worse emissions... In my case, it easily passed without the need of driving it hot but I will still replace the stock catalytic converter with a modern, free flowing and better working catalytic converter just to be safe as I want this thing to be longterm roadlegal! xD

@@moritzherr thank you so much for the explanation. That's good to know. I wanted to keep everything original but at this point I'd do anything to get it to run. I also checked my compression and it's below 70psi on both rotors. So I'll have to rebuild the engine. Fingers crossed that it isn't too worn down.

@@lukaseichberg Usually all of the emissions equipment on a rotary has not much to do with it running bad. Except when there are a bunch of vacuum leaks which these engines are very prone to having due to the ridiculous amount of vacuum piping. So the chance is pretty high that among the hundreds of vacuum lines, one is leaking xD However in your case I guess it is a compression issue... 70psi is pretty low. Before the rebuild mine had 90psi and that was already relatively low. I will check the compression after the rebuild once the break in period is over. I recommend doing a rebuild as it is really not that hard to do by yourself and it also teaches you a lot about your car which is the most fun part :) If you need any help, let me know with a Instagram DM

@@alejandromayen8526 Yeah no the gasket was actually for the exhaust manifold :) Some people say these types of gaskets are not good but I went with them anyways becaus I want to see for myself wheter or not they hold up. So far they hold up very nice and are much cheaper than the OEM $200 crap.
