I would recommend the cross body Wallis cast to start out

Working on learning this - thanks for the tips! I found BC swing cast was the easiest to start out but need to learn the Wallis for when there’s less room behind me

Look how do to the wallis cast with a centerpin
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
That’s definitely the next thing I gotta learn! I like the BC swing and side cast because they’re easy, but I gotta work on my Wallis cast. Lots of birds nests so far lol

Yea work on your Wallis casting,not bad for your first time tho.Took me a few trips to get the hang of it and I love it.

Our local bait and tackle swears the steelhead make runs up the maumee, but I feel like a doof drifting salmon eggs down that river😂
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
I live close to the Maumee and have heard the rumors... but I agree, I’d rather spend my time driving to better rivers than praying for a bite I’m not even sure exists haha
@fishingtheohio73 жыл бұрын
Its true they do run up the Maumee i cought one years ago
@dylanmounsey75153 жыл бұрын
Maybe try a bead if it’s a pressured area try to downsize your presentation I know rivers local to me where these fish see roe bags drift by them all day and nothing a single egg imitation is much more natural especially something like white or yellow or peach
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
@@dylanmounsey7515 I gotta try this out! I haven't fished beads much in the past but I do want to start fishing them more. especially on the pin

@@ReelRomanFishing some rivers that are super busy I find I can’t hook up with roe bags dude... only bead and the odd pink worm

Hey Roman is the water level still too high on the rocky to fish it? I I was planning on driving from Maumee tomorrow. Let me know if you have a second

Replied on Fishbrain! I’m in Toledo area too so definitely understand wanting to time your drives up with good conditions

@@ReelRomanFishing no way! I thought you lived by the Rocky. Lets get together sometime and wet a line. I got my first Maumee River steelie about two weeks ago up at the dam, and just got my first centerpin so we can both learn together. Love what you are doing keep it coming. Thanks brother Roman! By the way... I work at Jim White Honda, feel free to call or email me anytime. Bwhite@whitecars.com

Pretty much! Using a heavier float (15g) while I get the hang of casting, but was using the crappie tube for this fish

U ever fish for these guys with worms or top water or if that even legal...(I don’t live around these fish so idk😂)
@fishingtheohio73 жыл бұрын
They do eat real worms and pink worms (plastic) they will also take dry flies but couldn't manage one myself in this river
@andrewsmith24373 жыл бұрын
So weird this vid popped up on here for me I was to the left of you when you walked up threw in a cast and hooked up within two minutes lol. That was pretty cool especially how slow it’s been on the lower stretch of the river. Tight lines

Hahaha that's awesome. Yeah it's definitely been slow, and packed with people. I was out this morning and only got one in 4 hours :/
