Was really hyped for this pack but when I found out it's in the ballpark of 40 liters I decided to get the 0.5 day version instead, which is 27 liters. I use leftover tier system straps from my old 5.11 Rush packs as extra compression straps.

Do you feel the rifle bag is appropriate to store a laptop?? Do you think it would protect it enough and not pressed against the metal bars reinforcing your back?

If you use a sleeve for your laptop then I do not see a problem. Also, I found it more comfortable to remove the bars, so right now it is just the plastic support so if you store your laptop in the rifle area without the bars that is one less problem.
