It’s the same conversation we had about Drew Brees and Pat Mahomes last season. At the end of the day, it’s not a competition about age appreciation, as a Lebron fan it’s impressive seeing him do this at 35, but that doesn’t diminish what Giannis is doing at 25. You can’t blame Giannis for having a better team around him than Lebron has. We are judging them by their numbers and team wins and Giannis has a big edge right now. Both of them have won mvp’s already though and I suspect the only MVP that both want is the finals MVP. And that will be more significant because they may have to fight it out for it, so just pause for a while.

Giannis is easily the best player on his team while it's debatable that AD is the best player on the Lakers B. Giannis and LeBron both have amazing stats this year but Giannis' better. He's better statistically in every stat beside passing and 3 point percentage. Furthermore, Giannis is a far better defender C. The Bucks are on pace to 70 wins and Lakers are on pace to 60+ wins (which is both insane). But before you say because Giannis plays in the East, keep in mind the bucks have beaten almost every top team in the West (including the Lakers). D. This is probably the only category that goes to LeBron's favor. In year 17 he's still putting up MVP numbers (career high in assists) and the Lakers are looking like a championship contender. In Giannis case, he's putting up amazing stats and leading his team to a historic record without having a second MVP caliber player. The game is also growing in international appeal everyday and Giannis helps with that a lot

The thing with Reigning MVP’s winning back to back MvP is that people will inadvertently take their MVP post season into consideration. We have never seen a back to back MVP who had a horrible MVP post season. It’s just how these things work. They really should just take the vote after regular season.

The West is not “miles ahead” of the east. It is nowhere near as big as a gap as it used to be years ago. The east is not as weak as the media makes it seem. During Lebron’s tenure in the east it was at its weakest. The West is probably better by a team or 2 but nothing good outside of the 6th seed. You can say the same for the east except it may end at the 5th seed instead of the 6th. KD will be back next season and Oladipo is back just in limited minutes and not playing at 100%. By next season he will be at full strength, and with Brogdon, the great supporting cast, and the superb coaching Indiana has, they will be a true contender. Once Klay and Steph come back the Warriors will tip the scale in favor of the west by only 2 teams. The Thunder are the 6th seed and they just lost to the Bucks without Middleton by 50 points. That same team is just a game or 2 behind the Rockets. The 8th seeded Memphis Grizzlies is being led by a rookie who’s playing great but are no better than the 8th seeded Nets or the 9th seeded Wizards in the east. It’s literally just Lakers, Clippers, Rockets, Denver, Utah, OKC vs Bucks, Raptors, Celtics, Heat, Sixers, Pacers, (Nets w/KD). Looks pretty even if you ask me. Each conference has a couple teams who are traditionally bad but can play good basketball here and there. The Wizards are 1 star away from being good and they’re currently 4 games out of being 8th. With Kyrie done for the season, they may bump the Nets and make the playoffs as Bradley Beal is as good as any star in this league. The media really wants LeBron to win the MVP and him having a superb performance against a team that isn’t even in the playoffs is baffling. If that’s the case they should mention Giannis’s 40-20-6 in 34 minutes last night against the Hornets. Giannis won it last year and he’s playing wayyyy better than last year as well as his team is doing wayyyy better because of it. The only question should be if it’s unanimous or not because LeBron doesn’t have a case this year as great as he is.
