To add on to what Woodson was saying about Jimmy G's leadership: Joe Staley, who's the longest tenured 49er and respected by everyone, was considering retiring after this season. But after that 5-game winning streak, now he's saying he wants to play for another 2-3 years. That's the Jimmy G Effect. Everyone associated with the 49ers, from the fans to the players to the front office is pumped. And yesterday was the one year anniversary of Lynch and Shanahan's arrival. In one year we went from 2-14, rock bottom, to possible playoffs and beyond.

This would really depend on who they pick up in FA. If they get a pass rucher, CB, and a couple of O-linemen who are are good, expect this team in the playoffs next year. Last year they were within 1 play away in 5 straight games of winning all 5. If the 49ers started last year with Jimmy G and he stayed healthy, they MIGHT have made the playoffs. Now that they are healthy and the rookies have experience, adding some legit playmakers with all that cap will surely get them in the conversation.

I think people forget about Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers only had 0 starts before being given the starting job and 7 starts (4W-3L) before being offered a large contract extension. The Packers were investing in potential at that time, no different than the 49ers now. No one knew at that time that Rodgers would eventually go on to win the SB.
