Oh ffs she enabled her team to be classless and disrespectful and they got called out for it. Maybe hop off the victim parade for 30 seconds and learn how to take accountability for your own behavior. Nobody is talking about any other teams as “good vs evil”, and that’s not a coincidence, and it’s certainly not racism or sexism.

LSU players definitely played up the antics to earn that villain label. It happens all the time in college basketball, strong team with players leaning into the antics gets hate. @limitedbom2206 Ай бұрын
@@ShadomanG It's not surprising though, all the media attention went to the girl carrying her teams offense game after game. Then that iowa team ran into a brick wall in LSU. But that definitely pushed that label more in my opinion. When the clearly superior team smacks the underdog down and then starts antagonizing them/the fans, it is a one way ticket to villain status. But I'm definitely fine with LSU talking their stuff. By all means, if you're feeling disrespected, you should go out and speak on it. You know how good you are, go dominate.

1) It's not defamatory. Do people believe the LSU girls are literally "evil" and literally "dirty debutantes" because of the article this guy wrote? (and thus they are going to suffer actual damages because of it; people won't hire them, they'll get disqualified, they'll suffer so much emotionally they won't be able to step onto the court because they know people believe that they are literally "evil" and "dirty debutantes" because of what this dude wrote) lol Besides in the US you have the First Amendment which protects a lot of speech and this was clearly a free comment opinion column by a writer (i.e. his not reporting facts, he's giving his opinion on a sporting event). 2) This dude is a homer writer (LA Times) writing for the home team (UCLA). If it was (like Don Imus) a neutral party writing for the Denver Post (or as SAS rightfully says, USA Today) than there's more of a case that there was ill intent. The "good versus evil" was clearly hyperbolic, over the top, tongue and cheek. The ONLY real issue here is the "dirty debutante" line (given what comes up on the Google Search). That crossed a line and should've never been used.

Once again reporters ignore the fact that coach Mulkey did respond to the Griner drug arrest in Russia. She told a reporter she wished her well and hoped she returned safely. She said that was the only time she would respond to that subject. Coach Mulkey didn't owe Griner anything. Griner said some things about Coach Mulkey that were not true. Also, Griner's family new what Baylor was when she enrolled. She then wants to come out and throw it in their face. She should have gone to a California school or Texas A&M.

SAS is right; if it was a neutral writer from a different city or a national columnists then there'd be an issue. But hyperbolic, over the top, tongue and cheek sports commentary? First of all, and foremost... that rhetoric should NOT be used towards or about ANYONE. Whether 18 through 21 or a newborn to 104... that language has no place in a country that "self proclaims " itself to be the best, brightest, most diverse, smartest, least racist , fair, inclusive, non-barbaric , most civilized, Christian, hardworking, and godly...or is that in OUR DREAMS. Some people are so entrenched in racism and bigotry that they think it's others who have the problem.

I agree with Kim stance on the LGBTQ players. Kim recruited players to play basketball, not start a movement. Nobody cares what you do in the bedroom, you’re there to play ball. Also, there might be issues with other players undressing around a LGBTQ player that is attracted to women. It’s ironic the guys congratulated Kim for winning 20 games a year, every year in her career, but chastised her for HOW she did it, which includes establishing team unity and the winning atmosphere….and that includes unity in the locker room.

Just because Kim Mulkey has never read a book and doesn't know what the word debutante means doesn't mean that the article was misogynistic or racist. Iowa's women's basketball team has done everything right. Lisa Bluder has recruited, signed, and developed players, Caitlin Clark committed to Iowa as one of the best high school players in the country and didn't renege on her commitment like so many others have (Angel Reese, for example), and Iowa's scrappy style of play and blue-collar work ethic have endeared the team to so many Americans. LSU, on the other hand, is a team made up of coaches and players who left their previous schools for money. It's no surprise that everybody wants Iowa to win.
