Black man here and Tyreek Hill brought this to himself. Window up, belligerent, speeding, no seat belt. And then talks about drawing attention to himself and does not comply with the requests of the officers but instead attempts to roll the window back up- non compliance and defiance to the officers with the badge. Convicted of domestic violence, investigated for child abuse, settled suit for assaulting marina employee. There is a reason Chiefs let him go and still win titles. Common denominator is Tyreek Hill's behavior of not obeying the officers requests- he has a HISTORY of criminality....

The "probable cause" is the traffic stop for speeding and reckless driving per the officers observations. Additionally the Supreme Court has well established case law Pennsylvania vs Mimms 434 U.S. 106 (1977). This means a law enforcement officer can order a driver out of any vehicle and conduct a "Pat down" search. This does not violate a citizens 4th Amendment rights. This ruling established policy across all law enforcement agencies for decades now. This also means an officer is not required to ask a person over and over to exit a vehicle. It is not a negotiation or deliberation you shall comply to the legal order. Was the officer aggressive and impatient, answer is yes however not illegal.

When you fail to comply, things could get out of hand and you could face getting beaten or unfortunately--getting killed! Most officers will sometimes be very lenient if you follow orders, but sometimes you also run into an officer who wants to establish his power. Once again: Comply and live to see another day. I have never been involved in a situation with law enforcement were things got out of hands and I faced being brutalized or staring at death. And this relates how? Lol… no disrespect… what happened to hill and you are apples and oranges… the only commonality seems to be race… and that barely relates because you were drunk and he seems to feel he can talk to them and make up how he wants… had he not felt entitled and acted like he ran the traffic stop… yes… the lead officer was a douche… and he needs to ride a desk until he can get re-certified and if he feels like he doesn’t need all that, then he can be released from his position due to his unacceptable behavior… they both seemed to have a god complex and they challenged each others sissy boy egos… tyreek should not speak to officers with him feeling he runs the show… that’s the problem with a lot of high paid athletes. Some feel they should be it on a pedestal… hill should be hit where it counts maybe a fine due to bringing bad publicity onto the team and league… and hill has quite a few past discrepancies to base this opinion on. No idea if this officer has a bad record in his jacket showing any negative he may have brought upon the police force in him being butthurt and talking things too far… I was in the sheriffs department in the county I grew up in… I watched some fine officers get the last laugh by treating people acting out with over the top respect, people hate being talked to by law enforcement when they are spitting nails mad but the officers just keep their tone low and even and it makes the citizen even more mad. But it sure looks good in court when they show the behavior of both of them… no one will win any points in the way they both acted like petulant children!

"hands on the wheel, yes sir no sir, window rolled down" etc are not lawful requirements AT ALL when pulled over by the police. you're not even required to speak to them. all that's legally required is license and registration, everything beyond that is dependent upon necessary (or unnecessary) escalation. What Foxworth was referring to was the fact that there are more instances of law enforcement using excessive force with minority groups, a fact that is typically overlooked or dismissed in the public eye, so it has become commonplace in our households (private) to outline small things we can do when dealing with the police that can hopefully keep us out of those situations.

Best advice when getting pulled over for a traffic stop: Be courteous, give ID, proof of insurance, vehicle registration, and sign the ticket (if you receive one). In the end, no physical altercations and no drama. That's what I do and it works.

This is the problem we think we are freely moving in white spaces and act accordingly…until those that don’t want you moving in those spaces decide they have had enough…they make sure you know your place and their power. You have zero idea what kind of day the officer is having or frame of mind the officer may be in, at that moment your pulled over ,they are the law and carrying a firearm don’t give them any reason to be forceful. Show Respect. If the officer is out of line take it up with the courts on another day. No reason to challenge him at the scene when it’s just you and him or her . Officers are in dangerous situations on a daily basis and they do not know who we are. If an officer hesitates in the streets it could mean their life . They make minimal money and put their lives at risk on a daily basis . Just knowing this we should give them respect . Whatever color you are just show officers respect and tyreek or you will not be in the position tyreek was put in .

I’m white. I was doing restaurant delivery in primarily black West Philly several years ago. Made a delivery to an old age home one night. As I pull away, I see a cop car behind me. I zig zag across West Philly towards my next customer house but cop stayed behind me. Cop finally pulled me over. I told him I was doing restaurant delivery. He shines flashlight into food on my passenger seat. Claimed they’re searching for a white robbery suspect wearing a red coat and blue jeans just like me! I repeated back, “A white robber in West Philly?” Cop said “yes.” First off, no way he can see color of my clothes/ pants while driving behind me unless he watched me walk out of old age home. White cop tells me to get out of my car. I complied. He frisked me. Told me to walk to black cop partner with my hands on car. I complied. Shines flashlight in my car. Apologized to me and said I can go. Later, I filed complaint with Internal Affairs. Internal affairs interviewed me. They denied my complaint but acknowledged that cops should have had robbery victim brought to me to see whether I was the robber! Bottom line was that cops will be cops regardless of race most of the time. Just comply with their bs and go through the process later to seek Justice.
