Keep dreaming if you think that's gonna happen. This is Kirk's first injury...in his 12 seasons of being in the NFL....smh. He knows how to take of his body. He was the most hit quarterback in 2022 and STILL never missed a game. Dude is an iron man. And the only reason that Kirk even tore his Achilles was that he wore the longer spikes for the first time in his career and said that his cleat got stuck in the ground. The Vikings slipped on the turf the year before at Lambeau and the whole team decided that they needed to wear them for the next Packer game. I'd be more worried about Penix staying healthy with his significant injury history.

I rather take my chances on a young rookie QB with fresh legs. And from what I seen from Penix in college I'm not worried about him at all. Penix is a baller and he young and he our future. If cousins so great as you claim then why y'all didn't keep him in Minnesota. And obviously the Falcons front office doesn't think he that great because if they did they wouldn't even have drafted Penix. It’s a lot of good QBs that sat behind a Vet (injured or not) I.e Pat Mahomes sat Behind Alex Smith Jordan Love sat behind Aaron Rodgers so sitting Penix in order to make sure his at 100% best & just cause it’s pre-season doesn’t mean they won’t get hurt.. so it was smart for the Falcons to do what they did.. cause Dan you were trash when you played for the Jets 😂😂😂😂

I think the falcons are trying to avoid a QB controversy when they're stuck to Kirk cousins for 180 million guaranteed. In the first game Michael show that he's more than capable of playing in the National football League as well as being a starter. If Michael plays too well it could force a controversy that he should start over Kirk cousins if he plays well and Kirk doesn't. Now normally this wouldn't be too much of an issue but the problem is if Michael outperforms Kurt or the public request and demands that Michael starts the falcons will be on the hook for a guy sucking up 180 million and doesn't play. By default every team wants to play the money guy because they've got too much invested not to.
