This is the best DIY mill I've seen so far...by far. It sounds right an throws chips like a 100K cnc. I'm impressed. Great work.

it's hard to judge just by listening on KZbin, but it's probably most silent DIY mill I've ever heard :o Amazing! Does cutting for example stainless steel sound any louder btw?

Wow. Seriously, just wow! Is that real time? That is amazing! Such beautiful chips! You have a lot of Z-travel, was there a reason for so much?
@Svanitterzon
@Svanitterzon 5 жыл бұрын
Yes just in realtime, in the end after cranking up the feedrate it cutted at 4000mm/min. I like a high z axis so its not in the way when setting up jobs. And there will be a toolchanger so the top 100mm of the travel will be for getting out the tools.

Those AL chips are going to chowder your ball screws and Linears. Event doing a test cut, I would put some covers on, even if it is just some plastic sheeting or trash bags. Awesome Mill!

You would think, but this isn't grinding. There are no small particles in well controlled fast cuts like these, EVERY single piece of metal is at least least half a thou thick and probably .1 inches by .25 inches. No risk of that stuff getting past the wipers on the bearing blocks. What IS concerning later on, is stuff like cooling drying and leaving residue, the extremely tiny particles left by milling hard materials with small cutters at high RPM, general shop dust, and very hot (like glowing) chips from milling full-hard materials sticking and affecting the surface finish of the rails.

That is a really impressive machine, but a general comment... Why so many people leave out from the design the fact that these machines are making a BIG mess when used? I mean, protection should be part of the initial design, collecting chips and safety should NOT be left out, otherwise you will have to spend a lot of extra effort on cleaning the mess every time when using the machine, apart from the fact that you are milling the chips as well, which reduces the quality of the products you are making. It is truly an amazing machine, but it is in a serious need for upgrade. Safetywise, the flying chips are dangerous, not to mention what happens when a snapped off mill bit comes flying towards your face...

I thought it was a granite cutting machine. This is much better made of granite, with mens sized steppers :) Love to see what a lrackbox log with a MPU6000 gyro on the machine looks like. Fastast way is a FPV drone flight controller with SDcard black box recorder
