Penix is a bust. Left handed Byron Leftwich with even worse pocket presence. Essentially a pocket QB thay can't play from the pocket. Cousins is a good but not great QB.
@garyspence212810 күн бұрын
Bogus hot take...Before the young man takes a snap, you're writing him off by slandering Byron Leftwich? They can both sling it, but Byron was slower than a marble statue. Penix can move, and put the ball on the money downfield. Learn the subject before you pop off again, rando...
@nikolatesla55539 күн бұрын
Penix shouldn't be a bust. If he gets hurt, he'll be a bust. But you can say that about every player. I saw every snap of his the last two years. He has the best arm in the draft. And he isn't Leftwich. He is elusive in the pocket.

I have to wonder why the Chiefs, Bengals, and Bills didn't draft a backup QB in the first round like the geniuses in Atlanta? Why didn't Minnesota sign Cousins to a 4 year extention before the draft? Obviously the Falcons are the only ones this smart. I have never seen a fan base cope so hard.

How is everyone’s mind blown? The packers with Farve almost went to the superbowl and decided to not draft a piece that will get them a ring, they def Rodger’s. Then, years later they almost make the SB, and they decide to once again not draft a piece that will get them a ring, and they draft Love. Then the Chiefs have a good QB in Alex Smith (I believe he made the pro bowl that year or the year before) and instead of drafting a piece that could get you over the hump, they trade up in front of the Cardinals and snake Pat from us. How did those moves work out. Not even phased by that pick, it happens.

@xcwilliams79809 күн бұрын
Aaron Rodgers had #1 pick upside and fell to 13th I believe. And Favre had been flirting with retirement. Love was the 26th pick and Rodgers had been flirting with retirement of a down year. Kirk just signed for 100 mil guaranteed and penix was the 4th qb taken, at the 8th pick in the draft. But sure if Penix ends up being one the 3 most talented qbs ever than no one will have a problem with this pick

It's about Team Building, from Inside Out. Not Outside In. The Bears have two very good WR's, a very good TE and a capable RB who can pass catch as well, right? Who are the Bears going to throw the ball to? Bears have "4 receivers" already on the roster. Imagine the pass rush with just 4 Defensive Linemen if they added BYRON MURPHY II. The best interior defender in this year's draft, Murphy brings an explosion inside that the Bears need. How many Superbowls did Tom Brady and the Patriots win with a “trio of #1 wide receivers”?

Nick said they didn't have a top 30 visit, but the owner and staff flew out to Washington's pro-day. Also, the Vikings are projected by odds to finish in last place despite moving up to get JJ McCarthy. The Falcons have avoided what just happened to the Vikings. Injuries are enough to drop the best QB in the draft over a 2 season sample size, but not enough to warrant a serious backup plan for QB1 who is coming off his own injury? The Falcons are favored to Win the division. They are set up for a dynasty. Listen to Deion....

As a Viking fan, I have to thank the Falcons. They took a money hungry Veteran hurt QB. Then take another hurt QB in the draft. And we are free of check down Kirk and get Dallas Turner who was projected to them.
@truthbearer789110 күн бұрын
Nick's point is so dumb. THe only reason the Falcons would make this move for Penix Jr is if they are trying to win a Super Bowl and think Penix Jr has more upside of giving them a chance of doing so. Kirk Cousins has a very limited ceiling and realistically it was nobody at the 8th pick that was going to vault the Falcons with Cousins as currently constructed over the 49ers/Cowboys/Eagles let alone Chiefs/Ravens etc

@ronaldshiffman91718 күн бұрын
The Falcons draft choice was the worst I've ever seen. The only way this pick could rise to the level of good would be if Penix becomes a top 10 QB in the league when Cousins' time is over. Had Atlanta chosen a player on the defensive side of the ball, I truly believe they would have been a super bowl contender. Not now.
@mac58569 күн бұрын
Guess what? Kirk doesn't care, he got paid again somehow, his agent is the real mvp
@fb93gaming5310 күн бұрын
Nick already forgot, how the chiefs did when mahomes was on the board. Not to say penix is like mahomes or close to, but when you are convinced that QB Penix will be a franchise guy that will take us to the promise land, then you have to pull the trigger. If you miss, you def. out of the league as the GM of the Falcons, but it would be more stingy letting one of the other teams interested in Penix come up and snag him in front of your eyes and he will torture you for at least 10 years when the saints would have gotten the opportunity to pick him. If they are successful with QB1 Cousins for the next years, they are not picking that high again to find his successor. They obviously seeing something in Penix, that they don´t have in Kirk and the upside, besides the age, is there. Either way, we will find out in at least 2 years from now, if it was genius or punt.

These talking heads are educated beyond their capability.. Falcons defense was good enough to win 10-12 game had the QB been able to protect the football.. Cousins makes the Falcons contenders now… Penix can make them contenders in the future… Falcons failed to draft Ryann’s understudy… always relying on Shaub .. they could have drafted Fields but didn’t.. this regime took care of they early Second there was no clear cut world beater edge rusher … so why not draft Penix and then add some young defense talent later
