Nick is acting like the reason 49ers are 5-5 just because of Purdy. Not the special teams, defense, WR or coaching. Only Purdy gets the responsibility for losses. But he wasn't getting credit for their wins last year. You can't have it both ways.

Purdy gets all the blame for a loss, none of the praise for a win. This year, Purdy has had to rush more on scrambles, has literally carried the team on his back, with help only from Jauan Jennings, who's been playing like a WR1. Kittle has had to carry more of the blocking load. The offensive line has moments of awesome, with Puni being probably the best acquisition they've had. CMC comes back and Shanny completely forgets about Mason and Guerendo, who proved themselves in those early games as solid backs, and who actually helped open the field for Purdy. Deebo has had a rough year so far, with only a few good plays interspersed across the ten games played so far this season. I do think that Shanahan has been figured out. The jet sweep isn't working. CMC needs time to get reacclimated, but is being run into the ground. It's just a lot. This last game saw the run protection and the pass protection fall apart many times. And now let's get to the defense. When the niners are up and it's into the 4th quarter, Sorenson keeps calling for prevent defense. And then the QB just does whatever they want. You'd think he'd have learned with the Chief's game. He clearly did not. I am a lifelong Niners fan, and Purdy has been such a jolt to the offense. It's been amazing to watch. But the greatest player in the world can't win a team sport alone. Mahomes has a great record because he's been carried by Spag's defense. Goff has a great record because the defense has allowed Goff to really shine. Burrow and Goff been playing lights out ball this season, but one has a winning record...

Noone is saying Purdy is machomes, but Nick acts like he's derek carr. He doesn't account for anything but numbers and team record. He dings Purdys stats dips because his weapons are hurt it not getting open but he makes excuses for why mahomes numbers are down. Every criticism he has for Brock can also be attributed to mahomes this season but for mahomes he makes excuses and always leaves out their elite defense for being the reason they stay in games. But when the 49ers defense is down, it proves that Brock needs an elite defense to be successful according to Nick. I used to like his takes but his tribalism and refusal to back off of takes until it's obvious he's wrong (cowboys). It's like he's trying to fill the void of skip Bayless and he so much more annoying about it

Nick Wright is basically saying Brock Purdy is camouflage where he moreso blends in with his perfect surroundings & when it's not perfect, he looks worse. But my counter would be this.... Isn't this the case for like 90% of QBs that have ever played lmao. How many QBs out here ball out/play the same with less or suspect help around them as they do with more ? Not that many. Even if we concede that Brock Purdy needs more to perform better, so what ? You don't think Brady did too when he got Moss and Welker ? Mahomes' best season was with the fastest offense in the NFL. Hill, Kelce, Watkins called themselves the Legion of Zoom for a reason. Rodgers had his best season in 2011 with the deepest weapons core in the NFL in Jennings, Nelson, Cobb, James Jones, Jermichael Finley. It's just like, we're stuck on this point with Purdy that isn't a point at all. It's a moot point because it's irrelevant and means NADA. If Purdy was the only guy today or ever that it applied to, then we can be like "Aye! Step your game up, Purdy. Everyone maintains their same play with less", but since that's not the case, the point really means nothing. QBs play worse with less and better with more. Well, yeah, no shit lmao

Every QB in the NFL is subject to being called out. Why is Purdy the exception? Yes, injuries to your offensive weapons are going to play a factor, but this is a storied franchise. No excuses. If he was ok with being compared to Joe Montana (some even said he was better), then he has to deliver even when his usual suspects can't. That's what defines you. I'm not bailing on him yet. He still has time to right this ship, but if they lose to GB, I would start reconsidering paying him big $$$ to be the franchise QB for years to come.

I've re-watched every game he's played. He's played very well. His mobility is very underrated and his timing/anticipation as a QB on his throws is pristine. Veteran quality timing that is rare for any player, let alone a young guy like Brock Purdy. Not a cannon for an arm, but a damn good arm. He packs some slept on power in that right arm. He's actually a more gifted player than he gets credit for. Independent of the team record, Brock Purdy has put together a good season. For what his circumstances have been, I think he's had a nice season
