Jalen didn't have rust. I had assumed it was rust or he was off as well, until I watched a breakdown video of the past protection the Green Bay defense had. Go back and watch the tapes and you will see that their defense had man-to-man coverage on every receiver on multiple plays and there was no one open during those plays. Jalen didn't throw any interceptions and protected the ball and did exactly what was asked of him and got the win and in the end like Saquan Barkley said, the win is all that matters!

@mikev874618 сағат бұрын
Yeah I noticed that too and didn’t even watch the tape. But literally everytime they showed part/the entire coverage it looked solid. Maybe he could have still thrown it at AJ cause hes that kind of WR. But why risk it? Your defense is basically killing the opposing team. They can’t stop making penalties and turnovers. The game is fully under control. Why go on some dumb ass gallery play spree just to silence the naysayers? I really don’t understand why the media doesn’t seem to understand how good that GB defense played. And the Eagles still put double digits on the board. I think people are just inpatient because you really can’t say anything definitive until you see them play this Sunday. Then you have an adequate sample size.

Not this fan! I'm just like Saquon, Idgaf if the score is 3-0, we freaking win! Winning is the name of the REAL game, many stat padders are losers and don't have the winning mentality. The Eagles want to win...period. They don't care if they have to do it on the ground and wear teams out or go through the air(which he has proven he can do in several games) as long as when the clock hits 00 they have the lager score then they did their job. Smh, you're right, the majority of the fans and the media want the flashy plays and high stats so they can have something to marvel at and talk about. The team is just trying to win 1 game at a time until they're holding the Lombardi.

Your analysis is spot on, and I agree completely. Eagles are +21 in turnovers in last 12 weeks, and +12 in the last 4. Running the ball. Being the more physical team. Taking care of the ball, and playing great defense and taking the ball away, is a pretty tough nut to crack as an opposing team. Why mess with it?
@jpjh884414 сағат бұрын
I like the passing game tape review Dan Orlovsky put out, every receiver was covered by a Green Bay receiver on every passing play. He noted it was shocking how well Green Bay knew the scheme and were to put their defenders. Also as far as AJ Brown, don't be surprised when the season is over to hear he just had a knee procedure to clean out his knee, he has missed several practices with a knee over the past couple weeks. I think without his knee issue, the fake tush push would have been a completion, AJ's run speed is off. As far as AJ Brown reading a book, there are photos of AJ reading the same book against Baltimore and Washington. I've come to the conclusion that if a camera catches AJ dump out half a cup of Gatorade, they would create a narrative about how he is beefing with the support staff.

What people want from playoff games is that Washington/Tampa Bay game. They want risk taking, high scoring, last second hail Mary football. That's the playoffs: balls out football. But you can win games without all that as the Birds showed, but it's not always interesting to watch. Siriani mentioned earlier in the season, they play boring football sometimes but it works. I want to be entertained but I want to win more.
@lordlubu302911 сағат бұрын
Exactly, and that's why the media hates them so much, they play very boring especially compared to 2022. The fact is the Eagles have an elite defense and can afford to play slow grindy games, that's to their benefit. It's not that Hurts CAN'T throw the the ball down field and light teams up, it's just not worth doing that and putting the ball in danger when you have a defense that can stop anyone.

The Eagles are playing again next week, the Packers are licking their wounds and some Packers are scheduling their tee times for 7am sharp. Go Birds.

This is the NFL in 2024/25. The expectation is Tom Brady and flashy 300+ yard aerial show. But this is what the Eagles are. When Jalen needs to throw, he can, but everyone wants to blame Jalen when the Kellen Moore play calling yesterday was abyssmal. I have to disagree with Lucas here because I don't think the offensive play calling was intentional, it was simply bad scheme for the entire 1st half and then fairly conservative in the 2nd half. While Barkley had a good game, the offense needs to flow through the run game and that's not what they did for detriment of Jalen Hurts.
@mikev874618 сағат бұрын
Dont you think the conservative play calling was intentional though?
@GObirdsPhillyDan196917 сағат бұрын
@ in the 2nd half, yes. In the first half, they never developed a good rhythm. It’s been the same story all year. Those who are among the Hurts haters blame the poor first quarter offense on Jalen while others, like myself, blame coaching. I think a lot of people see Kellen Moore as some kind of offensive guru, but I have never felt that way. I also feel like that early game scripting has a lot of Sirianni feel to it. It always looks like a lot of “I’m smarter than you” playcalling that never seems to work.
@mikev874617 сағат бұрын
@ Yeah thats it tho, the first half needs to be like the Steelers game. The second half tho it seems like they just recognize the position their defense has once again put them in. And thus decide to safely run this thing out. It’s a different watching experience sure. But the second half only once felt out of control for me and that was the fluke Commanders game. Obviously ignoring September. I expect Moore to atleast dail it up now that he’s seen this game play out. He did so after the Panthers game. And again it felt that they were building off that through the Steelers and first quarter of the Washington game. Then it all went to shit. Hopefully a similar reaction follows now but without a combo breaker concussion for QB1.

Hurts is 7th in total QBR on a run first team. He is coming off an injury, hasn’t played in 3 weeks, didn’t make any serious mistakes, threw 13/21 (not bad), protected the ball, and won the game. If the Eagles lose, it’s not guaranteed it will be because of him. All 3 of their losses can be chalked up to other issues, plus Hurts was out in their loss to the Commanders. Can’t expect big numbers from Hurts when he only throws 21 times. Just my $.02.

it’s kinda easy to say that the packers should’ve followed the eagles gameplan, but you gotta understand the eagles went into that game with the intention of stopping the run. outside a few runs in the second half, they couldn’t get Jacobs going consistently. @travisoshea19 сағат бұрын
Wasn’t this the EXACT same narrative that was pushed against the Eagles and this passing offence and then the following week they went out and threw the ball where ever they wanted to. WE HAVE SEEN them beat teams by running the football and by passing the ball all vow the field, and by winning with great defence. As fans and the media we say “we want complimentary football” and “can they win ugly” but, they when it happens to maybe a team they don’t want to win, it’s now troublesome. This is crazy to me

I think these types just look for easy confidence indicators. Having a gunslinging offense that throws it around the field at will + random turnovers + average time of possession + shitty defense still sounds better to these types because they can picture the offense scoring easily. Meanwhile if this isn’t constantly displayed even when not needed they get fidgety. But then again all it takes is one game where the offense firework show gets whacked by an oldschool defense and the illusion is shattered. It’s perception more than anything else with these people.
@travisoshea17 сағат бұрын
@ yes it’s perception big time, which is wild but, also not too surprising

@ It’s the quintessential average sports watcher. When you watch you’re not in control. When not in control one feels a certain degree of nervousness. This is most easily dispelled when seeing a grand display made in say the form of a splash play or multiple TD passes by a QB. In the end the result is the same but feeling is what matters here. Even though statistically teams that turn the ball over unnecessarily from happy passing and that have an average defense lose more games/playoff games/win fewer SB’s. Again until the Eagles truly HAVE to show they can outscore another team that manages a shootout. All of this stuff is moot. Except for the team ofcourse, they need to come prepared for every situation.

I think they all read from a script and never question if the script makes any sense. Why would the eagles throw the ball, unnecessarily, when they have a lead?! More pass attempts means a greater the chance of turnovers, and you are giving the opponent more opportunities because they will have more time.
@mikev874617 сағат бұрын
Yeah just run the ball over them with occasional passes. It’s been like this for a bunch of seasons now. Ever since 2021 tbh. People focus on 2022’s offense being more electric. But I think what most people remember is the SB game and some in the middle of the regular season games. And there was a reason those games looked like that.

Do people just not realize that the other team plays defense? The Packers were a top 5 defense, next to the Eagles they had the best defense in the playoffs. If you rewatch the game, or the breakdowns on X from Dan and Ballinger, the Packers literally locked up the Eagles offense. NO ONE WAS OPEN. Hurts had no one to throw it to. People need to realzie that the game isn't just the QB vs a bunch of practice dummies, elite defenses beat elite offenses. The same way the Eagles defense beat down Jordan Love and held the Packers (a top 10 offense) to only 10 points....the Packers have an elite defense that help the Eagles offense at bay too
@mikev874617 сағат бұрын
I agree this is a point to improve upon regardless of what people already pointed out about the Packers defense. Never hurts to further improve. But I sincerely don’t think this should be cause for any alarm. Improvement yes, but alarm? That was a great defensive showing and the Eagles still managed the game to go entirely their way. Those turnovers would have been nice to see converted into points. But as proven even when not, GB lost the game anyway. So it’s literally just padding and people feeling antsy about it being a close game.

@BrendenWilson-x3n19 сағат бұрын
He didn’t have a bad game 😂 he didn’t get a lot of yards but 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions with a few incompletions isn’t terrible. It’s not what you want but that’s not what he averages be fr

Hurts was terrible. It’s ok for us to say it. He needs to be better. He holds the ball way too long
@andybarca210919 сағат бұрын
We are not paying Hurts big money to be “not a liability.” He played a terrible game. I am a Hurts fan, but imagine this team will a Burrow or even Daniels. Hurts needs to improve

With Burrow? Hasn't Hurts won more than him? Didn't he play a better SB than him? Naw I'll stick with our guy
@andybarca210918 сағат бұрын
@ we playing tennis or something? We have a better team than the Bengals! But if you think Hurts is better than Burrow, there are some more things that you need to stick to!
