@@JWLSportswhat are you talking about 😂 Montana is ALWAYS discussed whenever we discuss the best QBs ever. Being the all-time leading rushing in a single season would be monumental for Saquon’s legacy which directly impacts his ability to make the Hall of Fame one day (which he is currently not going to make). Legacy is marketed by the media but legacy is all the things we all have argued about for years when discussing who we think the best RBs/WRs/QBs ever are. Hell, a big reason most of us won’t ever listen to an argument saying anyone is better than Jerry Rice, is yes his numbers but also his single season TD record done in only 12 games. It all matters.

Getting this record would not be that hard. 101 yards against the Giants at home. Who knows when another opportunity like this will come around again. This will not only go down in history for Saquon but the Eagles organization, the o-line and Stoutland as well. Also, they only added 1 more game and this record stood for 40 years. There are only 9 RBs who have gone over 2,000 yards and this is now a passing league.

When it comes to professional records not everyone cares and even sowmtimes guys like Saqoun don’t care but, there are many who just want to hit their contract goals and get very selfish for just that alone
@JWLSports3 күн бұрын
Oh yeah. Every player no doubt wants their stats. Wants their numbers. I just think when it’s all said and done, it will end up mattering less than people realize. When’s the last time someone brought up Peterson? Tomlinson? It’s all fleeting moments. So it’s not about legacy to me. Legacy is how great you play for your career, the playoffs, etc. Not a single season. So ultimately it’s like Saquon, for your career, how important is this for you? If it’s important to him, have at it I suppose. But also, athletes need to be protected too.

Totally disagree. If you have a record within reach, you always go for it. You never know when you'll ever get a chance to go for something like that again. We saw this not too long ago in another sport. The Warriors late in the 2016 season lost 2 of 3 games to drop to 69-9. They were obviously going for the Bulls' record and ONE loss in the final 4 games was going to stop that. They went for it and got it. With Saquon Barkley, he's a little over 100 shy of history & he can get that in his final game vs the Giants & knowing it's the Giants in the final game, why wouldn't you WANT to give Saquon Barkley a chance to essentially put the cherry on top on his RS by breaking the record against the team who in essence sacrificed him for Daniel Jones, a player who ended up getting released anyway ?

Saquon could (knock on wood he doesn’t) get hurt in the first game of the playoffs, and from being a Eagles fan for the last 10+ years we live on the next man up mentality. Not to say it wouldn’t hurt us dramatically if we lost Saquon to an injury. But that’s the last thing on any players mind right now. 2, Saquon has done so much for this team the LEAST we could do is have his name forever be remembered. A Super Bowl does do that but for his legacy alone it would be nice. A lowkey 3rd is breaking the record could send the Eagles confidence level to another dimension just knowing your brothers got your back and are willing to put their bodies on the line for you.

No logical thinking Eagles fan values the record over the potential Super Bowl run. This season has been building for the big game. Not a rushing record. I agree it does kinda suck and it would be fun if he did do it. But it has to be so low on the priority scale that it’s not worth it. Terrible Takes ,Montana Dickerson And OJ get mention all the time
@chasingfelix36093 күн бұрын
Yeah that was a bad one by him lol. They are always discussed in these conversations.

Right?! That's what legacy is all about. People don't need to bring up someone every other sentence for you to be etched in history. When's the last time anyone brought up Julius Ceasar in casual conversation?
@angelomorrow12423 күн бұрын
Yea it was like as if todays jobs is not to talk about and analyze yesterday games etc , the greats get mention all the time not just Brady
@chasingfelix36093 күн бұрын
I’d leave it up to Saquon.

Go for the record!

I like your content usually but this is a bad take. I dont think saquon should play but i completely understand Brou's point

Keep it real I want him and an eagle to hold tht record ….but I think that bye week will help the team

Good point on the 18 game season, ultimately this record is bound to be broken very quickly as more and more games are played. It just isn't worth it risking your best player, the OPOY, for a meaningless record. I'd rather have Saquon rest and then see him tear teams apart in the playoffs

While I would agree if this was pretty much any other record, this rushing record is different. We are in a passing era. Its possible that the running era is coming back. But the NFL would rather dramatically change the game than allow that. This record is cracked and breaking it might sit all the way through 20 games when the NFL gets there in 2050

I’m with that but 101 yards to break it and you get to do it against the team that gave up on you ? I understand the injury part but I would play him for the first half you have to let him atleast try to go for it

Go have a beer with your buddies, I promise you will be bringing up all these guys

Like never.

@JWLSports Maybe it's because me and my buddies are older, but we constantly have debates about this and this with a variety of players from back in the day. Makes good conversations.

How old are you?

I wouldn't risk it, Superbowl is the reason each year they try to make the " Team " better. This year, they got Saquan, and he's had an amazing year. If you look at the first half's, he's carried the ball 13 or more times, and he hasn't gained 100 yards but blows up and the second half so that mean the whole offense have to play in the second half and the main reason is the Jalen effect of loosing up the defense to rush the ball and Jalen is playing. So I would rest the players to get ready for this run.

So if he doesn’t play next week and they go out and lose the first round of the playoffs.. what was the point of me resting again?
@stephanyarpajian97693 күн бұрын
I think it’s totally up to him

I don’t get the distinction you’re making about legacy players and legends of a player’s franchise. Oftentimes, one begets the other anyway. Every name you mentioned can still be found on the backs of jerseys at any sporting event to this day. That’s legacy. Besides, you can’t expect ESPN pundits to constantly bring up past players when their bread and butter is covering the modern NFL. Nick Wright will bring up Jordan Love 10x more than Brett Favre, but not because Love is more legendary than Favre. It’s just that Love is currently playing and Favre isn’t.

Bro legacy is about what is said when their names come up, smh. They all are brought up for greatness. Are we not bringing Dickerson because of his record. Every player will tell you their legacy is important to them. Nick foles would trade his legacy for Dan Marino's anyday.

Thank of it this way we have to play either commanders or packers and both have to play their starters. We would have rest on both and they risk major injuries also. I would give them a half to get it and that’s it and rest hurts. While the other teams are battling all game.

Letting Sequon play against the Giants is pure folly. Chiefs are resting their starters this week and have the bye. IT's like they will have 3 weeks off before the divisional. Let the Birds rest and recoup for what will be a tough playoff run. And let the Lions and Vikings beat the crap out each other on Jan 5 so they get drained. BTW, if Jalen Hurts has a clause in his contract that he can't even play golf during the season to avoid any potential injury, do you think Jeff Lurie is gonna let one of his star employees risk getting injured (like a high ankle sprain or concussion) in a garbage game and potentially diminish the Birds momentum going into the wildcard game? I hope not.
