Though I value Purdy much higher, the 49ers are in a similar situation with the Dolphins and Tua. When he was healthy, had a healthy LT, Tyreek, Waddle and the run game, he looked fantastic, but when he didn’t he struggled. Same with Purdy. The A plus talent around him makes him look like Tom Brady Jr at times, but he’s struggled when those offensive weapons were not available. Still, I would definitely pay him. He’s proven he has what it takes.

Ever since Kyle Shanahan became the head coach of the 49ers, he couldn't just win games with anybody at QB at the beginning of his coaching in San Francisco. Brian Hoyer, CJ Beathard, and Nick Mullens a combine record of 9-29 that's not winning games. Kyle didn't start winning games, until they traded for Jimmy Garoppolo from New England Jimmy record as a starter for the 49ers was 42-17. Jimmy Garoppolo at least he help turnaround the San Francisco 49ers,went to two NFC Championship games and had 1 Super Bowl Appearance that's what Jimmy did as QB 1 as the starter for 49ers from 2017-2021. In 2022 he was a back-up to Trey Lance, he went 6-0 before he got hurt that year.

As long as fans will pay more for tickets, concessions, jerseys, etc. the top athletes yearly pay will hit 100 million a year - OR - stadiums don't sell out, marketing takes a hit, and football fans start looking at UFL and think about a more affordable option. I don't knock the athlete from trying to "get the bag" but if the bag means more than a trophy and being a champion on a team, then football isn't a "game" its just a statistical lottery for gamblers.

I wouldn’t put much stock in what Kyle thinks about QBs, he’s been wrong way more often than he’s been right. Also Purdy didn’t beat Lance out. If you followed the team you would know they said repeatedly there was no QB competition. Brock got the job through other players getting injured and he didn’t have to compete to keep it. Those are literally the facts. And the “Lance just isn’t good” after only 4 starts is absurd. Half his starts came on short weeks his rookie season after Jimmy G got hurt. Another one was in a monsoon against the Bears and in his fourth start he got injured. That’s not a large enough sample size to make an objective evaluation. If you have a bias against Lance just say that, don’t pretend you’re the worlds best QB evaluator who can determine if a QB is good after less than 5 starts, that’s absurd.

This whole idea that Trey Lance must be bad because Kyle Shanahan didn’t want him is so absurd. Shanahan is the one who gave up 3 first round picks to draft him. What evidence do we have that Shanahan can evaluate QBs? Brock Purdy? Because the 49ers had 3 sixth round picks the year Purdy came out and passed on him all 3 times to take him in the seventh round. The logic just doesn’t add up. Kyle knows QBs because he got rid of Trey Lance, but also he’s the one who drafted Lance? I guess he learned a lot about QBs in the last 2 years lmao.
