That was my first time riding the 65! I was with ‪@VinceTransportProductions‬!
The two short lines that serve Berkeley Hills, 65 and 67, are the only routes (besides the 7 sometimes) that utilize shorter Van Hool A300Ks for all trips operated. In fact, AC Transit retired most of their A300Ks except #5118, #5120 to #5123, which out of these 5 units, 4 of them are needed for 65 and 67 (two coaches on each line). The extra one is usually for either backup or sending it to be on the 7 sometimes.
With that said, this weekday-only route is exciting to ride! It serves along the Euclid Ave and Grizzly Peak Blvd corridor, providing the only public transit option for passengers to reach Lawrence Hall of Science on the top of the hill (the other option is Bear Transit shuttle route, but that route is for students only) and the Senior Ave loop. AC Transit hates running this route, but they still cannot cancel it, as community members will be unhappy with the decision.
