It's curious how most people miss Askeladd's facial expressions when he asks Thors to be their leader. At first he's serious and he let himself get carried away, but then his eyes show a sort of sadness/disappointment as if he notices how impossible the request is, then finally he saves face pretending it was all a joke.

i for myself think askellad was dead serious when he asked thros to become their leader on the other side he cant lose his face infront of his groupe and the death of thors was inevitable cause that was the thing he and his groupe will get paid for the gold he will get for doing this will be big for askellad and his men for getting through the winter he didnt spare thors life and retreated but he spared thors men their lifes and let them go as he promised !

Every question will be answered later. Why thors said a true warrior doesn't need a sword ?. Canute will have the answer for that. @@therealguy5424 when thorkell's brother will be on his deathbed, yes jomsvikings leader and thorfinn's grandfather. Floki will try to take the power and as thorkell doesn't have any successor and is not interested in becoming the leader. And at the same time Thorfinn will be visiting jomsberg due to trade, he thought no will be able to recognise him as no one but only thorkell knows who he is. But thorkell will recognise him and will announce him the son of thors and will ask thorfinn to become the leader of vikings but thorfinn declines the offer and says he is not interested in power and money and went on to his journey but floki now knows that thors son is alive so he send his one entire fleet of his guards to kill him and as usual people doesn't take him seriously due to his height and physique. He asks them to leave him alone but some guards hurts his friend (who later will become his wife) and then the entire fleet found out who they have fuked with and you will see the season 1 thorfinn raging to jomsberg again to kill the leader of jomsviking (floki) and when he reach there he heard floki speaking how he plotted the kill of thors. Then he will take the throne back from floki but he doesn't kill him. And then he asks thorkell of the punishment for not complying with the orders of viking leader thorkell tells him its death. Then he announce that his first command is that he disbands the jomsvikings army.
