The mighty Red Noise. Haven't heard this in an age or two, still sounds awesome. As I remember, Red Noise were not well received at the time, it's pretty different to Be Bop Deluxe musically, and I think a lot of BBD fans felt short changed by Nelson's change in direction. I think there's only one or two guitar solos on the whole record. Try, Do You Dream In Cclour? ...it was supposed to be a Red Noise track, but ended up on a solo record. One of my absolute favourites, and has a pretty weird video!

Red Noise was a great departure for Bill Nelson after his Be Bop Deluxe days, his solo career following this is even more fun and diverse.

One of my all time favorite songs and yet, it's not on Spotify - thank you for choosing this one :) Also check out from the same album Don't Touch Me I'm Electric :)

Great track from Bill who went in a Gary Numan , John Foxx style after this album. The guitar 🎸 rules !

Thank you for playing this and the name check. I ended up going back through more Be Bop Deluxe because of this and ended up with a fairly substantial Bill Nelson collection. Unlike Chris, it never bothered me if there wasn't a guitar solo from Bill on any tracks, I loved his songs, his voice and the production - guitar solos are just that. I'm a massive Squeeze fan and don't care if Glenn Tilbrook doesn't do a guitar solo, just love the songs. Amusingly, Bill Nelson professed a strong dislike for Squeeze... whilst I see them as being exactly the same type of music as him. Others have suggested Furniture Music and Do You Dream in Colour, which I completely agree with. However, drop back one to the last Be Bop Deluxe album, Drastic Plastic and you can see the transition to Red Noise. On this you will find Surreal Estate and a technique of hitting anything with a stick that was also used by Squeeze on Goodbye Girl. Both fabulous songs.

@@KillerBl8 the transition between Be Bop Deluxe and Red Noise is pretty interesting. I never remember which way round it goes, but, either the songs on Drastic Plastic were originally meant to be the first Red Noise album, or, the Red Noise album was meant to be the final BBD release. Whichever way it is, it's all pretty intriguing stuff.

It is reminiscent of Devo, but this was very much cutting edge at the time. A school friend of mine was a huge fan of Red Noise but I was never sure about it. Furniture Music is the track I most remember.

Hi C and C , hope you had a great Christmas and New Year . Glad to hear this request , tis a great Album " Sound on Sound " has not got the Brill Guitar work of his previous Albums with Be Bop Deluxe ! The last Album by BBD " Drastic Plastic" went more Synthy then went into Red Noise !! I have had that Boomerang / Jaws man Flu !!Keeps coming back to Bite you !! and just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water thing going on . Thank you , cheers .

Sound On Sound is a great album with no weak points. My favourite tracks are Stay Young and Out Of Touch. I think Revolt Into Style is about going his own way rather than trying to change to fit in with popular tastes. Bill has always resolutely trodden his own path musically.

Quite good and Boppy. It's a bit like Devo, who I love also. I would probably have to listen to it a few more times to see if it grows on me.

This kinda reminds me of Alice Cooper's Flush The Fashion album, guitar driven ditties with synths, and a mix of real and electric drums. Thumbs up from me.

@SPKdesign1 , True, Flush The Fashion, Special Forces and Zipper Catches Skin were not really successful, but I really like the first two. I first saw him on the Alice Trashes The World tour, and seen him twice around 2017 and 2019... Always great in concert.
