AG are kind of a counterculture group. Their message is a lot about enjoying your youth. Japan has a very "blend in, work hard!" type of culture. Their message is that you don't have to waste away your youth fitting in. That it's okay to live your youth to the fullest because you only get it once.

I am not an idol fan at all, total metalhead. BUT I love this group singing, dancing, humor, personalities, message just the whole show. You really need to see the mv for Koi Geba. Suzuka in an interview in the US last year said that is THE song and video to start exploring Atarashi Gakko with. Note it is a serious topic teacher and student sexual affairs. This group is funny and energetic but they do not shy away from having strong messages and social commentary.

I also like a lot of metal and Atarashii Gakko. Have you seen Broken by the Scream? They're an alt-idol group. It's Idols but they do extreme metal mixed with Idol. It's a trip. Like Babymetal but heavier. And more Idol.

I would recommend Koi Geba, that's my top 1. That is god-tier! Other faves I have are Koi Bumi (it is like an anime theme song you will love it), Koi No Shadanki (Love breaker, about 2 schoolmates who kinda fell inlove with the same guy, the other one betrayed the other), Kimiwaina 17 (I love this song so much and it has a great piano background music and is very catchy), Also see Woo Go dance practice, the choreography will wow you! Also Mayoeba Toutoshi (when they were not yet discovered outside Japan, this was their ending song always so this is really special to them I think), Seishun Jinrei (this is their opening song on most of their previous live concerts in Japan), Toumei Boy (some might say that this is about childhood love but basing on their live performances, I think this song is about friendship, warning: it will make you sad) Toumei Girl (H zett version, that one is only sung by Mizyu and her voice is so angelic) what else? Hmm, pineapple kryptonite and hanako are also great. By the way if you are feeling sad, please listen to Happy Hormones, it will light up your day. That is a good vibe song. :) Also check out their collab with Klang Ruler, they have 2 songs they collab with them and the duet of the 2 groups are just sooo good. PS. Suzuka is also an actress in Japan, and all of them has been in the show business even before they formed the groups. They are dancers/fashion models. Suzuka also is a painter. :)

Refreshing to see an idol group that are allowed to fully show their fun and chaotic energy. I love K-pop but the ultra professionalism can be a bit too repetitive. A group like this is a nice escape from that :)
