First time eating cereal!

This is a great case for babies who need to eat more than just liquids before 6 mos old. She was hungry and ready for this. The doctors do not know everything. My mom had to feed me like this when I was this little. I wasn't getting enough to eat. Then the doctor finally told her to just cut a bigger hole in the nipple to feed me the cereal. Otherwise I would scream. No way I could wait until I was 6 mos old for 'food', this was back in the 60s.

Quick question m...!People saying this baby is too young for solid foods... how do you know how old the baby is? Also, given the amount on the spoon and consistency I would say it’s no different than putting cereal in the bottle.

If she is really hungry it’s best to feed them a little before trying the spoon when they are really hungry they don’t do well because they’re so frustrated already but she did really well considering she was hungry n fussy she did pretty good

Parents...get over messes! Babies make them! Sit them up in a high chair, put more than a dot of food on the spoon, deposit IN the mouth, remove spoon. Teach them how to eat, for gosh sakes!

Our pediatrician said start the baby on cereal around the time she could sit up and support herself without help. This baby looks a little young but both Mom and baby did great! She looked like she thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course the internet “experts” will disagree.

She obviously needed a nap. Mom probably chose this time to see if it may or may not have helped her sleep better. And this is new to her and the thickness and texture was foreign to her, as well as disrupting her usually routine. She obvi was stressed to some degree with several new things going on, as well as sleepy. She did a very good job for the first feeding.

I’d say you did right by giving her rice cereal but should had made it a little thicker it was basically rice milk you were trying to feed her she loved it and for the mess take care of that later after she’s full but good job what a sweetie pie she is

I did the same thing with my son. Cereal at about 1.5-2 months as formula wasn’t enough for him and a little cereal in his bottle (literally not even enough to thicken it at all) just for him not to scream hungry. Baby food bananas at 4 months and also some Unsweetened Almond milk but only if I knew he would get enough formula for the day (drank 3-4 8oz bottles and wanted more one bottle of almond milk and he was out like a light for 4 hours)

Each baby is different, all 4 of mine didn't eat solids until 6 months. Their stomachs couldn't handle solid food any earlier.

@@theresaakins2317 Exactly. My son was ready early and always showed interest in foods early too. That’s part of the reason why I gave him purées at 4 months because he already had shown interest in food.

@@idreambig5970 dr said the almond milk was ok especially with him screaming for formula so many times in an hour and the almond milk helped. Said as long as he got all his formula she didn’t see a problem in it and it could actually help prevent allergies due to early introduction. Had purées at 4 months too which they didn’t like but those first few foods he had are still his favorite. Did baby lead weaning mostly after 6 months except for foods he just didn’t like the texture then purées for those foods still.
