This will probably get lost in the comments: I'm a 26 y/o dude from south UK, and have been watching you for about 4 years now. I think the main reason I enjoy your content as much as I do, is because you seem like the type of guy I would want to go for a drink with, grab some food sorta thing. Chill, down to earth, easy-going. If you think thats a fair comment to make then you do a great job at displaying that through a camera. When I put one of your videos on, I get that same feeling I do when I sit with a friend and have a meal/a drink. I feel disconnected from everyday stress and anxieties, and I relax for a moment, much like I would a friend at the pub. Appreciate you and your no-nonsense content. Just a dude from down the road who's more or less the same on camera as he is in person (from which I get that sense, but you can never be too sure online lol). Hope everythings good with you, and best of luck with whatever you decide to do going forward mate. I wasn't going to comment this out of some fear that this would be interpreted by others as yet another parasocial love letter lol. But who gives a fuck...

What saved Little Caesars was when they came out with their hot and ready pizzas for $5.00 each. They weren't doing that good and a lot of their pizza places were going to close. Once they had already made $5.00 pizzas their business started booming. It was like fast food pizza. Not sure who the genius was who thought of it.

@@thamoris9138 You're welcome. I remember Little Caesars in my town in FL before the hot and ready came out. They used to put two large plain cheese in a long box wrapped in a Little Caesars white paper bag. I used to order it and my sister used to order it. I'm thinking it was a better deal to get the double pizzas for like $9,99 or around there maybe $10.99 than to buy one large. Then all of a sudden we saw signs on the window about Hot & Ready cheese or pepperoni for $5 and you didn't have to call and order or wait for it to be cooked. After that if you went on a Friday or Saturday night there was nowhere to park and no room inside to get one it was so crowded.

I still remember back in my late teens in the 2000s, LC was basically the worst pizza out there. I heard people describe it as flavored cardboard. Felt like they got trucks of frozen pizzas and just threw them in an oven. But at the same time, I remember one summer day, I was out all day with the whole family doing a crapton of yard work. We were tired, sweaty, dirty, and in no mood to cook dinner at 8pm. Back then even at that time, you could walk in and grab a couple pepperoni and a meat lovers, a few dips(what were they at the time? 60-75 cents?), a 2 litre and a crazy bread, and be out of there in under 5 minutes for about $25. The speed and price were unmatched. LC has innovated more over the years. I think the Detroit style was the first big new offering, then they did a bunch more. Any time past say 5pm, you're lucky if just 1 or 2 pepperonis are ready to go, usually you gotta wait, so the speed aspect is gone outside of peak times when they keep they on hand. And also their prices are nowhere near as competitive. One of the highest rated pizzerias in my city offers a large(22in) NY style for $33, vs LC large(14 inch) at $11. 3x as expensive, but in terms of square inches, it's almost 2.5x as large as the LC. Now don't get me wrong, I think LC has improved a lot. The dough is better, the cheese and sauce is better, the pizza doesn't feel dried out like it's been sitting around all day. It's not bad, but it's not good enough to really stand out much, and without that rock bottom price and a diminished speed factor, It's not really competitive. I still grab a couple every now and then, but they were unchallenged on price and speed, it was their niche in the market, and they gave it up to just be another pizza chain IMO. If one of the best pizza places in town offers a much higher quality pizza at just 20% more per square inch, I'm going there.

Ben i got so excited when you started to talk about 'that pizza when you were a little kid'....i knew exactly where you were going. I've been for years telling anyone who will listen about the term i refer to as 'bowling alley pizza'. You as an adult are pretty sure it was made out cardboard and ketchup sat under a heatlamp for 5 hours. But you as a child, it was awesome. You were out having fun, and you got to have PIZZA. It was amazing, you were probably with your friends during a simpler time and now your caveman brain associates with the memory so fondly that you get transported back to that period for a moment. Bowling alley pizza was top tier shit tier food. Its a guilty little pleasure that you know isn't as good as it actually it, but it puts you right into this mindset of enjoyment. Isn't that was humans have done with food? made it more than just a basic need or survival item, we moved on from boiled meats and honed crafts to ENJOY food too, not just need it. So the enjoyment is just as important to the meal now, and why sometimes we want this 'intentionally bad' food. Because We often eat to enjoy something, and memories flooding back bringing some serotonin absolutely does just that and makes that ketchup sogged cardboard taste like among the best thing the world can offer, even if it is just ketchup on cardboard.
