They've been through a lot of things, their principal voice had gone due to the loss of one of their members, then three of them had to do the military service, Taemin who were raised by his brothers since he was like 14 suddenly had to be alone by himself, and now they're together again, they are only four but in Shinee's hearts they will always be five. SHINee is literally one of the most famous group in Korea.... I can prove it because I'm Korean ^~^ They have so many hit songs, actually, all titles of their songs are very known to Koreans. Even their debut song in 2008 had a big hit just after released.

SHINee are called the princes of Kpop!! But please don't forget, that SHINee are actually 5 member. This is really important to us Shawols! You already know Taemin. Minho is the red haired one, who is the second youngest and also an actor. he acted alongside with Taehyung in Hwarang by the way. Key is the black haired one and has a really funny and sassy personality And Onew the blonde haired one. He's the leader and also the oldest. And then, we have Jonghyun. Our member for eternaty. He comitted suicide in December 2017, which was very tragic. But he really had one of the most unique voices in Kpop history, that's for sure. He has also a lot of solo music stuff. New Shawols always tend to forget, that they are actual a five member group, but SHINee had clarified a long time ago, that they will be a group that is forever five! Yes jonghyun will forever be in our hearts, but if you commit a suicide, that person probably don't want to live for whatever the reason may be. So please respect the Fact that jonghyun probably wants to be just in piece, and this is shinee's comeback, so it's getting a little off that if People really still reminding People of jonghyun. It is good to know that this was not the original lineup, but since everyone is slowly trying to move on, i find it somehow weird that People still talk about him. Shinee is really strong, and even tho they probably won't ever get pass jonghyun's death, they are at least trying to move on.

Honestly, I feel kinda tired and sad when some people mention Jonghyun like this. It's enough to say, "he has passed on in Dec 2017" or "Shinee have 5 members, Onew, Key, Minho, Taemin and the late Jonghyun". We don't to constantly tell people how he passed on. I am 67 yrs young & was introduced to SHINee in 2013 by my then 18 yr old daughter. I turned into a massive SHAWOL & KPOP fan & never looked back. They are hands down the most versatile group in the industry. They & SuperJunior opened the door for EXO, BTS, Got7 on into NCT etc. I have been fortunate to see them live 3 times while Jonghyun was still alive. Two were fan meets & 1 concert. Other than my kids births & wedding day NOTHING has been that exciting in my life. Do yourselves a favor & do a deep dive into them & listen to their music collectively as well as individually. SHINee debuted in 2008 with Replay and 5 members who is: Onew,Minho,Jonghyun,Key and Taemin. And in 2017 the vocal king Jonghyun passed away due depression but like all 4 members says SHINee will always be 5 in everyones hearts and i'm sure that Jonghyun must be smiling proud looking to this 4 handsome mans, SHINee was in Hiatus because 3 of the members was in military: The first one was Onew who is the oldest and a little later Key. The next year Minho did go in the military, Now is Taemin that is 29 years old so he is getting ready to go to the Military.

I love how you pointed out the differences in their voices! They all sound very distinct from each other as just 4, but their 5th member Jonghyun had one of the most special and powerful voices in kpop, there'll never be another like him. Their past songs (w/ Jonghyun) really showcase their voices--and sound WAY different from this one, ha. It's been 13 years since this group debuted but they are still crazy popular in South Korea. This is really really rare as there are so many new and young groups coming out every year in South Korea. This says how amazing this group is. This was their comeback after 2.5 years since most of the group members except Taemin went to army. Even after long break, they topped all the charts in South Korea. They are literally legend and one of the most respected group in South Korea. You guys won't be disappointed whatever MV or live performances you watch. They are called CDnee as well cause they sound just like CD or sound even better than CD.

I would recommend their live performance 'Marry You', even if you can't post a reaction for it. It is a b-side from the new album, and I think you guys would love it a lot. Also, SHINee is known for having better b-sides than title tracks :), and also better lives than studio recordings.

SHINee's music and concept is very versatile and they always bring something new. If you check their past albums you guys will be really surprised by how different their music is for each comeback. Some of my favourites are "View", "Dream Girls", "Sherlock", and "Married to the music" by SHINee which were crazy crazy popular in South Korea. Their 5th member Jonghyun (may his beautiful soul Rest In Peace 🌹) wrote the most comforting songs. The lyrics of his song comforted many people including me. One of my fave song from him is “end of a day” and the song ”breathe” which is not a song that he himself sings but another solo artist LeeHi but he is the producer and writer of the song. Those song comforted me and let’s me know that “I’m enough” and “I’ve done a good job” because sometimes I really need to be reminded of that. You should definitely check out his songs and also “breathe” that song is so good.

They were originally a 5-member group, but sadly one member (Jonghyun) died by suicide in 12/17. I recommend listening to "Sherlock" or perhaps "Lucifer." These were huge hits for SHINee. PS There are so many good K-POP groups...it's astounding. I think I mentioned this in the past, but I think you would like "Love song" by Big Bang, which is another fantastic boy band. It's a song from ten years ago, but it still sticks in my mind. I think Dennis would enjoy the video, which is all done in one take and is technically quite complicated. I'm sure you have so many videos and groups you'd like to listen to, but I also recommend Super Junior, yet another boy band. Some of their songs like "Sorry Sorry," "Mr. Simple" and "Sexy, Free, and Single" were gigantic hits. I think you'd really enjoy them a lot.

Shinee doesn't have a particular style but you can always tell a Shinee song. This is actually totally different for them. They recently released a performance of a B side from the new album called Marry You that shows a little more of their vocal mastery. Their lead vocalist sadly passed away in 2017. He was to singing what Taemin is to dance. He was also a great songwriter and record producer. Members are Onew (1989), Jonghyun (1990), Key (1991), Minho (1991) and Taemin (1993). You will see that the videos made before the end of 2017, there are five members physically. And this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reason's why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc. With this comeback, SHINee are just doing what we have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Nothing you hear from them will ever be like anything you have ever seen or heard before. They raise the bar even higher with every comeback. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. He is also one of the most popular solo artists in the industry and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. You haven't met Jonghyun yet -- he isn't in this MV because he passed away 3 years ago -- but, in order to get to know SHINee, you have to get to know him as well. He is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun wrote and composed almost 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc., as well as participated in several movie and drama OSTs. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including several of SHINee's song selections. It's been a while since you did this reaction but I hope you will continue your Shinee journey at some point, loved your reaction and everything you pointed out! Shinee is a 5 member boygroup under SM and they debuted in 2008 with their debut song 'Replay'! Taemin was only 14 years old at the time. They had a steady career for 13 years by now. Unfortunately they lost their member Jonghyun in December 2017. It was a hard time for the members and fans. But they decided to continue as 4 who will forever be 5 ♥️ You should check out their MV 'Atlantis' which came out directly after this one. Totally different vibe but also a whole banger! If you want to check out more I think you should start right at the beginning so you can see their growth with your own eyes. It's a lot of fun, especially the questionable fashion choices and haircuts and some points. They were also just kids but already so talented. Their debut is called 'Replay' and was released in 2008 (the MV was re-upload so the date on the yt vid is different) - Replay (2008) - Love like Oxygen - Amigo - Juliette - Ring Ding Dong - Lucifer (2010) That's all for now or otherwise this comment would be endless. ok this is going to be a long one xD first of all, i'm so happy you finally reacted to SHINee! i was a little too insistent in your taemin reactions (sorry) to check them out because i had the feeling you would love them too. i've been squeaking through the whole video too because you even had the reactions i expected lol. to answer a few of the questions you had through the reaction: -SHINee stans are called Shawols, which comes from a contraction of 'SHINee world' (because we are their world and because we are around the world) -(content warning: depression, suicide) they are four in this video, but they were five members. Sadly one of them who suffered from depression took his life years ago, but if they ask any of the members or Shawols SHINee will always be five (this is a sensitive issue so i wanted to let you guys know; you can do some research or if you want i can reach out in socials with more info) -i was SO HAPPY that you noticed what Dennis put in words so well: they each have their unique flavour, in their styles, in their voices. It is one of the things that drew me to them in the beggining. -i would recommend checking the rest of the album (because it's out) haha but i know it's better if you start with other mvs, i don't recommend going very far in their history at first so i would say 'Married to the music' , 'View', 'Sherlock' to start -and i think that's enough for today 😂 i will answer as many questions as i can if you want 😊

Glad you liked them and now you can see where Taemin came from and why he is so good. When you watch some more mv's you will hear their superb harmonies and vocals. You said that you had not heard another group with such standout voices and you are right. And if you think these 4 are unique and distinctive wait till you hear them as 5 with Jonghyun the main vocalist (the best vocalist in K-pop). Yes, they feel "fresh and very now"; it sounds like 3rd or 4th gen doesn't it? They all have solo work too, and if you're blown away by Taemin then wait till you get to Jonghyun. They are also one of the best live performers out there; you will be amazed when you see some live concert performances. Just a final comment - please do yourself a service and stop comparing groups to BTS. SHINee and others came way before BTS. And there are other groups who have very distinctive individual voices eg Bigbang to name the most famous. There's also EXO and Super Junior. I don't know if you've reacted to any of these yet because this is the first reaction of yours I've watched, so apologies if you have. If you haven't you need to do yourselves a big favour and listen to them, especially the kings Bigbang, honestly guys.

SHINee consists of 5 members, including Jonghyun, one of the best vocalists and composers ever, who sadly passed away in Dec 2017. They debuted in 2008 when Taemin was just 14 (SHINee practically raised and helped trained him vocally). They are trendsetters (music, fashion and dance practice videos started with them) and generally don't follow the mainstream music. They are the concept and most of the time their releases set the next trend in kpop. Each member has distinct voices but they complement each other. They are harmonization kings. I suggest your next song be View or 1 of 1 if you decide to delve into SHINee :D to be honest, all SHINee songs have something to bring to the table and it just depends on your taste. There's something for everyone in this almost 13 year long discography. Also, you're right about the voices being very very different from each other! SHINee is known for this haha. Everyone can be distinguished by their voice easily... Key has a bit of a nasal undertone that he uses "sharply" both in singing and rap, Taemin is high pitched and breathy, Onew has a more warm tone (honestly one of the most unique vocals in kpop imo), and Minho has also a breathy voice but it's lower pitched! With SHINee we can never forget out angel and vocal king Jonghyun, which I'm sure Shawols (the fandom) has already filled you in.

Not so fun fact- Jonghyun, is a former member of SHINee, he died in 2018, he killed himself- We of course knew about his depression, he was really open about it, and we as Shawols (SHINee fans) did everything we could to help, but he eventually made the choice, and we can't really change it, I loved their newest comeback but seeing just the 4 of them made me feel... guilt? I'm not sure, but Jonghyun was my bias and he still is, I still love his silly self and how funny and bright he was, of course. He's more tha his death and I still love the boys, no matter what they do- but it feels somewhat empty- yanno? Fly high, Bling Bling ❤✨

Naar mijn mening: Ik zou zeggen om Shinee te kennen zou ik echt letterlijk van bij hun Debut beginnen en zo verder te gaan tot nu. Je kan echt Taemin's groei zien van song tot song. @@FelixFile hmm still no. Vocally? Can I be honest here? BTS songs aren’t vocally challenging. It is more of a typical pop song Jam that everyone can join in singing. The high notes produced either of the members are just falsettos which is pretty basic for a singer. Their vocal riffs and runs are a bit sloppy as well. In terms of dancing.. again, you can’t compete with Shinee having the most number of awards for best dance group. BTS gained popularity because of their style and technique that is very common where any individual could relate in to. With this, of course HUGE amount of support will come since they are relatable. Easy dancing. Easy singing. Where people could just enjoy music in general.

We have Moon, Lie, Crystal Snow, Epiphany, Awake, and SO many other songs that are vocally challenging and hard to sing, as many of their members have vocal ranged going form 3 to 4 octaves. SHINee just has more songs like that than BTS, but they've also been around for longer. As for dances, in BTS you have a contemporary and pop dancer that are both extremely talented and have showed it. Dionysus, No More Dream, Save Me, DNA, Fire, boy meets evil, those are just a few of the songs with amazing choreography..
